One of my favorite guitarists. He died after battling  metastatic throat cancer for over 10 years. RIP Eddie.

I was fortunate to see them warm up the crowd for the Rolling Stones.

Van Halen will be at the top of my Playlist tomorrow.

I was listening to Van Halen I and Women and Children First in my car this morning.
Eddie was as innovative as Jimi Hendrix - a hard loss!

The year was 1978. In my high school we had a student run radio station that played music in the student lounge and the large cafeteria lunchroom. As a minority population in the school, there was little Rock and roll being played so a group of us signed up. We got a half hour to play whatever music we wanted. One of the other guys in my long hair Led Zeppelin/Flannel shirt and Levis wearing group of pot smokers named Greg Nettles brought in the new Van Halen album. We debuted to our school and it was instantly a hit...

Well with about 10% of the population :weiner:. The other 90%... Not so much. :copcar: They started banging on the radio station door, tried to break in and take it off the turntable. Thankfully they were not successful but mysteriously, we never got our spot in the radio station again.

Every time I hear that song and songs from that debut album I go back to those Wonder years.

Truly one of the best guitar players in history. RIP EVH

Often, subjective statements of greatness follow the passing of an artist, but in the case of Eddie Van Halen, he truly is one of the top guitar artists of all time.

Thanks for the interview link. That was really very nice and inciteful. I didn't realize much of what he endured in the US growing up. I was a senior in 78-79 when they hit the scene. Their first album was incredible and still hits the turntable occasionally. He will be missed.
