Title: Washington’s crossing bridge today
Post by: sdcr on October 07, 2020, 07:52:32 PM
I passed a grey, late model V7 today, as I was riding the WashinGoon Crossing Bridge, from Pa. to N.J.

I was on my white 850 Le Mans. Anyone here?

Was he wearing a yellow safety vest?

Frank Vanderwarden lives down this way and I pass him often but I know he makes it up that way and he has a Milano.

Kev,

The V7 was crossing into Pa.from Jersey.

I think he may have had a vest, not certain. I was checking out the bike. I always look at the jugs

That's a sketchy narrow bridge.  Easy if you're on a bike, but I recently crossed in my truck.  Better hope nothing big is coming the opposite way!

You mean NJ to NY?  The GW Bridge connects Bronx to NJ, the Delaware Water Gap connects PA to NJ.

Washington’s Crossing is just a few miles north of Trenton NJ. It is the actual area, where George Washington crossed the Delaware River, to sneak up on the Brits, from Pa. to NJ. The bridge is one of those all metal, grated affairs. Most vehicle drivers will fold the rear view mirror, to add space while crossing.

Ha ha - NO.

Oh better yet, let's see if this works:

Follow that link and drag the little street view guy onto the small bridge. You'll get the idea!

We're talking about a tiny little open grate bridge that spans the Delaware River right by "Washington's Crossing" park which commemorates what you expect it would. The bridge therefore spans the river between NJ and PA.

The park hosts the Gathering Of Nortons most springs.

The road on either side of the river meanders pleasantly northward from that point.

That area is quite scenic with loads of history.  Long ago when I was a kid I spent the summer of 1961 with my older sister in New Hope PA.  Great memories.

Ah,  I obviously was thinking of the 'other' monstrosity. ;-)  I think I've crossed that back in the 80's when I lived in Blairstown, NJ.

Joe,

I’m doing very well, as I just retired. Hope things are good with you.

Love the Vintage, it’s on my “Guzzi” Want list.
