Title: Source for Sporti decals?
Post by: ffraz on October 29, 2020, 11:37:25 AM
Hello all,  Im repainting my 1997 Sport i and I've exhausted all my sources for decals, specifically the "1100 Sport" decal for the tail fairing.  Anyone have a suggestion for a decal source or happen to have two stashed away that they would be willing to part with?  Cheers - Ford

When I had the bare metal tank painted for the V7, the shop that did the job had a computerised decal printer (& the decal stock) - printed anything needed. Had decals printed for the tank & for the side covers, Pick out the size, font, colour, design & & print to a suitable (& fresh) media. These days of the 21st century, you don't have to shop for decals, you can have the made to order. The trick is in finding someone with the equipment. If I ever ended up with a "Spot 1100", I would seriously consider having proper "1100 Sport" decals made up for the rear fairing. Not a fan of the "Spot" decal.

Thanks Malik.  The Spot decal is still available but apparently the Sport decal which debuted in '97 with fuel injection is NLA.  I will look into the digital option...

Thunderbike motorcycles in Perth used to have a selection of transfers from that era I don't know if they have what you want specifically however it might be worth asking.

I'm sure Motographix in Australia could produce them.
They made a full set of decals for a Daytona 1000 Racing for me when I had it repainted. See http://www.decals4motorcycles.com.au.

I have a pair.  Had them made when I painted my bike.  Probably easiest to have them made. I took a good photo, nice an square to the decal. Provide the photo an dimensions and it shouldn’t be a problem

I could do you a pair like this if you're happy with non-original.  Or the same ones in chrome/silver or white?  I could have printed you original copies, but I've an issue with the ink nozzles on my printing equipment at the moment!

Are these new custom decals water transfer?

Do you mean those shown above?  No, they're vector-cut from (65micron) exterior grade metallic vinyl.
