Title: My 2013 V7 Stone has Class
Post by: davedel44 on November 01, 2020, 12:45:47 PM
Went to the garage to take a short spin and deliver some Vespa tools to my buddy Phil.  Bike turned over very slowly. Started to click, click then completely dead.  Typical dead battery symptoms.  Then l looked down at speedo where it usually shows milage and saw the message CLASS.

Some secrete Guzzi Code?

I'll take battery to be tested tomorrow but just thought message was strange can't recall ever seeing it before?

Dave...isn't this the 2nd or 3rd battery you've replaced recently on the V7?   Sounds like you might have a consistent drain somewhere?

Maybe a battery tender would be helpful, or more riding.

My V7 has plenty of class.  The rider eh?

Funny acronym.

I followed this thread to Guzzitech, I'm not a member so I couldn't drill down.
It looks to me as though it was a bad contact causing it to heat up and melt the solder.
Thats quite interesting, two V7s with the same problem, something to look out for but not unexpected, the switches look very similar to the 2000 era bikes, just less contacts.
Eventually the wires to the switch will start snapping with old age as the copper work hardens.
A fix on the road would be just remove the switch and twist the two wires together or jumper the two sets off fuses together ABC to DEF

P.S.
I hope you guys are scraping the battery terminals and slathering them with Vaseline.
