Title: 1969 Benelli Mojave survivor
Post by: Canuck750 on November 03, 2020, 10:15:58 PM
1969 Benelli Mojave, a nice bright orange machine, I just read a road test from Cycle Magazine circa 69' on one of these, they didn't think much of it off or on road, I do like the colour of the body and frame though. Sort of Rickman looking but the frame is painted and not plated.

I’m making one of these into a cafe bike with a 650 BSA motor.  The few articles about the Mojave claim that the frame was an Italian copy of a Rickman frame which was intended to hold Benelli’s then-new 650 twin motor.  When the 650 motor wasn’t ready in time, Benelli put the 250 and 350 single motors in the frame instead.

Benelli eventually did produce a 650 twin motor, but that motor was never placed in the Mojave frame.

The frame does look like a 60s Rickman frame, but who knows?  It’s pretty beefy for a 250 single.

This is on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/662103434509326/

Selling my Mojave "kit".  I was going to build another special...but I've decided not to:   All the following are NOS parts:  un-stamped Frame, swing arm, chain guard, gas tank, seat pan, seat pad, R and L side body plates with tool box door, tail light bracket, front fender, and Brake pedal.  All body parts are yellow except one side plate is orange....needs to be painted.  Pick up only in central NJ.  $950
Also have MOST of the Benelli factory tools (2 boxes with maybe 50 different NEW tools.    $200     Will separate!!!   1st tool $200, the rest I'll include free!

Take a look at this goup for Wards Riverside bikes.

It used to be a Yahoo Group, but when they closed last year, I transfered the content over to the Groups.io platform.

Joe

P.S.  I have a Benelli/Riverside 350 myself.

Interesting story about the Mojave's frame...

The gas cap is the same one later used on some Guzzis, 1000 SP and LM II for example.
