Title: Rusty ABS Ring
Post by: greer on November 05, 2020, 08:20:21 AM
The ABS ring on my front wheel is rusty as all get out, any reason I shouldn't sand and paint the thing?  I wouldn't want to do anything that might cause the sensor not to sense, if that makes sense .  Thanks!

Sand, wire brush, media blast and/or chemically strip it then paint with good quality caliper paint.

One thing to remember with ABS rings is the gap. Should it get too big the sensor will not work properly.  I can't imagine sanding will change it enough to worry about.  One of my bikes has a spacer which adjusts the gap so that it is held in the right spot.
