Title: 2008 1200 sport
Post by: AH Fan on November 10, 2020, 07:38:05 PM
Was wondering if any of the members have a 1200 Sport 4V with the Stage 1 or 2 performance kit installed?
If so I have a few questions if you could PM me.

Ciao

Does the 4V refer to one cylinder or two?

To avoid confusion, I prefer 2V or 8V to distinguish the model being referred to.

I've not heard of these, what 'kits' are you referring to, and what is involved?

Also, as Dave said, do you mean the 4V head which would be an 8V motor, or 2V head which means 4V motor?  FYSA, the 8V motor did not come to the United States in the 1200 Sport, it only had the 4V 1200 motor.

I have a Beetle Map and well tuned bike (proper valve adjustment, TPS set, TB balance, fresh plugs). Bike performs flawlessly. Anything else is wasted $$ IMO.

I only know of 1 Sport that got the factory kit & it was in IL. Nice idea but no one bought the stuff offered. I remember it was $1700 or some such. Most guys got the PC5Auto tune, and mapped them or the Beetle map & mods.

I ran across one or two of those when I was looking for mine.  IIRC, the pipe swung high so you couldn't put bags on it.  I could be wrong.

Sorry about that gentlemen.
Yes I'm referring to the 2008 2 valve engine 1200 Sport.
And yes it was expensive and probably quite rare.
And yes it was a twin stack pipe assy high mount.
I believe one sold last year or so back east.
Just thought there might be such a creature amongst us.

Ciao

I think Bad Chad actually rode the one in Ill when it was new and told me it felt like his arms were going to be pulled out of their sockets. Always liked the bike and wanted/want one.
