Title: Moto Guzzi 750s (new review)(second video added)
Post by: nick949 on November 19, 2020, 02:47:10 PM
This is the fourth in my video review series 'ANY OLD BIKE'

The 750s was a single year model: basically a V7Sport in a new set of pyjamas.

I like mine. I haven't been riding it anywhere near enough. That's going to change!

Here's the review:  https://youtu.be/jv1DYs7vTG4 (https://youtu.be/jv1DYs7vTG4)

Stay well everybody

Nick

Nice review Nick

I owned a 750 S3 in the Seventies and I remember it fondly. It was one of the sweetest Guzzis I've ever owned.

Cheers!
Mike

Great video Nick, I felt like I was riding along with you. You are fortunate to have such nice quiet and interesting roads so well suited for a motorcycle.

Out west here on the bald prairie most all of the roads are flat, straight and the only turns are 90 degrees at a cross road intersection.

Maybe we can meet up next summer half way and I will bring my Laverda SF1 to compare rides. :thumb:

I would love that Jim but I'm not going to race you just to see if Ian Falloon and Superbike were telling the truth.  :boozing:
And if you're over this way, there's always space. :thumb:

As for the prairie.........you're five days closer to the mountains and the far north than I am to my great regret.

Stay well

Nick

thanks for posting that video Nick.

I see your have Ontario plates on the bike.  I grew up in Burlington in the 80's and used to see one of these riding around occasionally with the same color scheme. It could easily have been an S3 as I was too young to know the difference.

How are the ergonomics on this bike? The handlebars appear to be clip ons and a bit low?  Wonder if it's similar to a modern day v7 racer for riding position........

It's torture mr pacman.

The pegs are too high. My knees are up into my armpits, I can barely reach the bars no matter what position I put them in and the seat was designed by the Marquis de Sade. I'm folded in half. Yet, I persevere.
Seriously though, it's not too bad as long as you're limber and don't have a colossal beer belly (although I suppose one could rest it on the tank).  I'm really too big for the bike and after about 100 miles the muscles in my backside are singing songs to me.

I haven't tried a modern V7racer.  I suspect it may be a little less aggressive.

Is it worth it?  Yes!!

Sounds like rear sets might increase your comfort.  I set my V7III up with 6 inch rear sets and LSL Clubman bars.  I find it more comfortable than the stock riding position.  Interesting video.   :thumb:
