Interesting! I would never have associated the singing of Santa Lucia with anyone except Italian tenors and baritones - Caruso, Lanza, Sinatra, etc; well, it's all I ever heard. Had no idea she'd gotten so far north ... !

We had a similar discussion last year as to why both the Isle of Man and Sicily had the "three-legged" symbol on their flags, and it turns out there was a connection much like the one you mention here.
It's why we have things like the "Moto Guzzi Norge"!
