I have wanted one one these for decades, but realize that other than looking at it for a few minutes each month, it is not very practical. I suspect that during a leisurely ride, the first time I needed real brakes, I'd also need a change of underwear.

My high school buddy had one of these...1966 Yamaha YL1 Twin Jet 100.
It went like STINK, and when it was on the pipe, it poured "white smoke" out the twin exhausts like it was part of the local Mosquito Abatement Program!! :laugh: :grin: :wink: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :shocked: :shocked: :huh:
As I recall the brakes were adequate for us skinny 100 pound 14 year olds! (lol) :laugh: :grin: :wink:

that was my first bike. 1966 Yamaha YL1-E IIRC, except it was blue and had electric start. if I ever replaced the battery, I would have known whether it worked or not.
not much of a trail bike, but hey, ya gotta start somewhere...
20 mph in first gear, IIRC. with a bigger rear sprocket (10 teeth?) it pulled good wheelies in 2nd gear.
On a similar note, I remember when 6 volt 4 inch diameter headlights threw out plenty of light for night time trail riding......

That poor bike qualifies as..."The Beater of the Month!!" :laugh: :grin: :wink: :shocked: :rolleyes: :huh:
But the funny thing is...for $200, some brave soul out there will see the potential and bring her back to life again!! :thumb: :cool:
