KC135’s. I was a crew chief on a Q model my first hitch . Beale AFB in Northern California. A ‘Q’model had the fuel system and electronics to air refuel the SR71. Got some good trips, we were always somewhere else. https://youtu.be/qMyv50JVU28

Living in the Wichita area I have observed them for decades. Really quite amazing. Came so close to a ride but weather screwed us and never had another chance. Some years ago helped strap in a cute little 15 year old gal for her first glider ride. After that she joined the club. Eight years later she was flying KC-135s. She had talent.

You're very lucky to get a ride. My next door neighbor in Phoenix was crew chief for the 161st refueling wing and we were all set with the paperwork and scheduling
and a week later 911 happened. Never got the opportunity. Bucket List item for sure.

The old 707 was a good piece.
When were you at Beale? I have a couple friends who were there years ago working with the Sleds and Dragons.

My Dad was a gas passer on KB-50s and KC-97s. I never got to refuel on them, but lots of time getting fuel
from 135s and KC-10s

I was at Beale ‘77- ‘82. I rode the wheels off a couple of Ambassadors, especially when I lived in the barracks and I disliked that so I rode all I could when I was stateside. Some damn fine riding. I never did have a car, that four years so I packed a lot of different stuff on those bikes, like laundry and all that. They sort of reminded me of driving an old gravel truck up and down the mountain roads. What years were your friends there? I wonder what they use all those Q models for now that there is no SR71 .

They still have TR-1 there?
