Yup, put them on about every bike I had. In reality, that rack and a waterproof duffle bag is all that’s necessary for touring.... reality being the key word:)

That was really designed to keep the rider from falling off the back when pulling wheelies  ! Peter

Yup had , still do, an Arther Fulmore  ( probably misspelled) rack on my 79 XS 750 Special Yamaha. A sticker on the rack noted 25Lb load limit. With a Ha Ha, they can’t really mean it attitude, we loaded a capacity stuffed Duffle bag, tent, and 2 folding camp chairs on it, a back pack hanging off either side my wife and I took our first cross country. .  I took the 2 foot tall adjustable back rest off the next year when my wife decided she prefer driving her own. A couple years later the rack had to be reinforced and welded. Still very functional though.

Never had a windscreen on my GS400 but had a backrest and rack where you could adjust the backrest forward so it could be used by the rider solo. Also left a good place to tie down the homemade paisley duffle bag which was the extent of my luggage at the time.

I've used Ventura luggage for many years. With purpose design & manufacture I've not had a problem. If you're not 2 up slide the main bag on in front of the vertical hoop. Great back rest when needed. Beware, under those conditions! Big interstate clover leaf. dragging left knee. Floated to the outside by ~ 2 feet, in a cross wind. Various MG's ansdSV650S's.     R3~

I’m thinking that 25# warning sticker was put there to keep our 3rd inebriated buddy off the bike👍😂😂😂😂

Had that setup on my XS650, though the backe rest wasn't as high. As said above, tent and a duffel and a tank bag I was good for a weekend camping trip to Vermont.

I could never use a sissy bar because it interfered with my swinging a leg over the bike.  That and it’s name...

Remember them?  Heck, we all had the sissy bars on our Schwinn bicycles.

But ours were about 4 feet taller.   Due to the extra coolness factor

Here's my 1982 CB900c, the sails were definitely shrinking some by now, ..just like the late 50's automobile tailfins? I guess Discretion WAS the better part of Valor as I remember being told "those things will push you into an accident!" Maybe some truth to that :boozing:
But it's a nice Honda accessory put on the bike since new.
By now, lawyers must have influenced load ratings as mine is stamped for 7lbs max. ??
Anyway, I'll be riding her most of the day in the north Georgia mountains  :thumb:
