It's a Voskhod 175cc single two stroke, not one of the finest things to come out of the old USSR. It could be a novelty bike in someones collection.

I inherited one of those a long time ago (80's), it was a non runner and I never got it running reliably, threw it in a rubbish skip in the end, there was nothing worth removing and saving 'just in case'. A horrible motorcycle

There is a thread on ADV that is about a Russian motorcycle that the owner acquired in Viet Nam. I can't remember the exact title but it is something like "The Worst Motorcycle I Have Ever Owned" or something similar. The author actually got two of them. He describes his attempt at restoring them. The thread started a couple of years ago but came to a screeching halt at some point. I think he got pretty burned out on the project. The thread is well worth a read. It is absolutely hilarious, had me laughing out loud numerous times. The guy should be a comedy writer.

I have been reading up on the brand, it started: (from the web)
In August 1916 a small provincial town of Kovrov saw building of first workshops for “First Russian Society for Rifles and Machine guns plants” and then ......."Order of motorcycles production start in plant of Kovrov town was issued in March 1946, and as soon as November first series of 59 K-125 were assembled. Designs of German DKW RT125 were given as a part of reparation after the Great patriotic war."
So they had origins similar to BSA and like BSA (Bantam) copied the same DKW after the war.
The 175 origins are a direct copy of the Czeckhs desin, the so-called “Kovrov-JAWA”, K175 of 1956.
The Russians had their hands on a lot of 'borrowed' technical deisgns but just couldn't deliver a decent product, sub-standard components and poor quality seem to be the norm.
