This looks interesting and might provide some minor protection in a garage tip over.
Has anyone seen something like this that would work on the 2014 V7i as these appear to be for the V7iii

I can't see all the detail from the image but if its only secured by 2 bolts forget it. Like Square head and esp Daytona engines 2 bolt guards often wreck the head in a low side event. I have a Daytona head with a large part of it's structure torn out by using a 2 bolt protector. Two bolts isn't enough to provide a load path into the head structure for the forces of a crash however every engine is different. You need to know what the bolt sizes are and what the structure inside the head looks like. If you fit it for the garage tip over then you just increase your risk for a low side scenario. It's not always a case of something is better than nothing. Some crash protection knobs and bars are the same in that they do considerable structural damage in a fall protecting the aesthetics. Remember the people that make and market these type of things tend not to invest in crash testing.

Guzzi accessory, should do the job in a tip over, at speed, likely not so much, but they look great.

Do a Google / eBay search for v7 head protection, and you’ll see quite a number of examples offered from 3rd party sources. To the point about “not being tested”... granted, MG is like any other brand and will often sell what sells... but I’d think these offer at least some sliding protection.

I didn't realise it was a "genuine" Guzzi accessory. Saw the "made by DPM" so assumed it was aftermarket.

I saw those in our local dealer, I think about $400, too rich for me.
All you need is the special bolts and you could roll your own from something like 1/4" plate, something more sacrificial perhaps.
I agree with Phil they would likely do more damage than protect.
I once had a VII Sport, it had 4 bolt guards that were quite chewed up, had certainly paid for themselves.

I saw those a while back and wondered about if it was a good idea given that the 2 bolts securing them are only M6 IIRC
It seems to me that a drop could bend those little screws and then you'd have trouble getting the rocker cover off

That’s been my wonder. Lots of people poo-poo these protectors that bolt into the aluminum valve covers, noting the soft integrity of the aluminum. I don’t have a ton of experience wrenching and don’t know all that much about the applied physics in regards to various impact forces cast upon these bolts, but my (severely) amateur off-the-cuff assumptions think the bolts could potentially get bent near the head, but that the threaded channels themselves would be either fairly safe, or at least manageable enough to get the valve cover off. At least valve covers don’t cost too much to replace, eh? Am I missing any key concerns?
I’m biased by the way, as I have the 70tre head protectors that bolt onto the valve covers in addition to the Stucchi engine guards. I figure with the stupid off-roading that I do, as much protection that I can afford is helpful. Now where did the funds that were set aside for recent physical therapy visits jump off to?

those look cool, but dont provide much protection. For a v7i (I assume you mean the 'classic' or cafe classic generation) you can search on ebay for a lot better options, those should fit any head guard for v65, nevada, florida, v65sp, and v7
I have the Ed Milch ones from Guzzi Power, but they are huge and odd looking, deff not for everyone

DPM are an Eye-Talian company I believe who manufacture accessories for motorcycles no idea if Guzzi have blessed them or not
I've got an open clutch cover on the Ducati 1098 and it's made by DPM, at least in that case though it's substanial enough to offer a bit of protection.
If it floats your boat for the looks then why not? They look nice to me................. ..however like a lot of things Italian, practicality is often a secondary consideration
As Phil has pointed out don't expect them to be of any use when dropped and as he also stated they could make things considerably worse.
Frame sliders on Ducatis, especially the external type designed to stick out and protect the fairings as well as the frame can be a mixed blessing as another example.
During an off the sliders often bent frames, or dug into the soft earth trackside and tossed the bike way into the air resulting a huge amount of damage.

Mine is a North American spec 2014 V7 racer. Would that fall into the same category as the other ones you mentioned? I had a good look on Ebay and didn't see any aftermarket ones but perhaps I'm not looking for the right thing.
After seeing the $400 price for the official ones, I think aftermarket is my only option as I don't want to spend that much money on them.

Which is Moto Guzzi's own product for the V7 II? The one I originally linked at the beginning of this thread is for the V7 III. Are the I, II and III all the same or do you know if MG made something similar for the II?

these look good to me, not sure if they fit your bike. I am a little fuzzy on the V7 models after the classic and cafe classic but before they added the V7II designation. (there were changes in there like 2/1 TB, wet alternator for one year, etc)

That was purely based off recollection of a similar thread on the forum posted a couple years ago. Someone shared a pic, saying they were MG accessorie, and looking back on them, they might be the same thing that Unit Garage sells. Regardless, looking into it, it doesn’t appear MG still sells them, if they ever did.
Guzzi-Tech sells protectors, but you have to purchase the old-style covers in order for it to work out. You can get those valve covers from GuzziTech, Harper’s, etc.

Seller indicates they are for the 2011/2012 motor, but wasn't the 2011/2012 Euro engine the same as the 2013-2015 motor that eventually came to North America?

They’re showing an old-style valve cover. I could be wrong, but I don’t think those older guard types will work because the cylinder head fins on the later V7 and V7II stick out farther than the earlier ones.

So, while it may very well fit if the bolt holes line up the same, they might not stick out at all and do any type of good. That’s why the GTM guards are so big, I think.

Some "guards" are in reality just damage multipliers! You don't have to take into account their practicality. A broken head won't let you get home where as a scuffed one will.

Very true and I've been the guy whos ridden to the next country town for a new spark plug to replace the one broken off when my friends Guzzi went down the road. As opposed to the broken head from a poorly designed head protector.
