Title: NGC Stupid Monkey Bike Prices
Post by: Canuck750 on March 20, 2021, 06:29:11 PM
Regardless of how low the mileage, or how nice the bike is, $20K US ($25K CDN) for a Monkey Bike????

1967 Honda Z50M
457 original miles

Yes stupid money, but if some trust fund baby sees it and remembers the one from childhood, it’s sold without blinking an eye, even if they ride it once and it spends the rest of its life in the Jay Leno wannabe shed.

Not many people knowingly and gladly sell their $$$ bike or whatever for a fraction of current market value....  If anyone feels so inclined, please get in touch.  I'll try to meet your price.

It's harder for me to comprehend how much disposable legal income some people have than to understand the prices they pay for what they want.  It's none of my business how they can afford it, just what they'll pay for what I have for sale.

I just have to laugh at those prices and shake my head at what people will pay to relive their youth. When I bought my ATC in 1983 the Honda dealer had about 25 of those monkey bikes on the floor, blowing them out at $279.00 each. Had I only known, my retirement fund would be much larger!

A friend is convinced that there is some money laundering going on with these deals . No idea , but $25K for a Monkey Bike does make me wonder .

I think the only money laundering that is going on here is the buyer being taken to the cleaners.

A quick internet search shows up a bottle of scotch or wine that is for sale at $25 000 or way over. I can also find a lot of paintings for much more than $25 000.

If I had the choice of a bottle of Scotch, a painting or the monkey bike I would take the bike. But for me it is incomprehensible that I would want to spend that kind of money on any of the above items.

Around her the rumour has it that the Shriners scoop up every one.
I think they use them for their parades.
