Well, I got her in December 2020 with very low mileage (I think she might have been a ex demonstrator?). Anyway, due to - here in Blighty, lockdown dampened any ideas of a trip out, but today the sun was shining and the roads free of salt so off I went. Only 150 miles but enough to get some idea of what I'd let myself in for.
The riding position is 'different' and not what I am used to but you slowly settle in to it, the wide bars also need adapting to as on tight turns they can touch your thighs. So off I went and once out on the rolling roads she came into her own. I cannot believe a 1400 V twin is so smooth....incredibl e. The mirrors are clear and the bike pulls like a train so much so that you need to keep an eye on the speedo as I opened her up from 55mph and she sped up to 85mph in a heartbeat! She shakes at a standstill which is lovely, it is her soul. This bike has character by the bucket load. The brakes are fantastic and the seat comfortable.
I am just getting used to the LCD screen and all its options, odometer, time etc. She handles very solidly and sure-footed, the suspension is firm but will ease off with time.
The home maintenance will be something I'm looking forward to doing, I have other bikes in the garage but the Guzzi is endearing herself to me. I can see me touring many miles on her around the UK and I want to tour Italy in 2022.
Things are looking good with the Moto Guzzi, as I have a smile on my face when I am riding her. Couldn't really ask for any better than that.

Congrats. I had a 1400 that I loved. Truly unique bike and very comfortable. Much better handling than other big bikes and it is really pretty fast up to about 80mph from a dead stop.
What have you been riding?

Tony, what year model is your 1400?
-
So far put 12400 Km on ours, ....Riding position for Me ,...A1 !,upright [i'm 6'2 ] . Sure .the 1400 is on the heavy site, but i think ,prime for our Roads, long miles uninterrupted.
Even 2 up ,perfect Tourer !
And the Maintenance ,well thats half the fun owning a Guzzi .

I did a couple of test rides on them and totally agree with the write up. Very good power and handling, great brakes and smooth. The foot controls were a little more forward than I like. I thought at the time it would be a great two up bike.

Hi NCdan, the bike is a late 2018. Not many about in the UK, which is nice as the roads here are full of GS's.
Character is a nice thing for any bike to have, the early Beemers had it and I reckon every Guzzi has it from the moment they leave the factory.

I really liked my Eldo until I crashed it.

Love my 2018 Eldorado and are of a similar mind set when it comes to the floor boards .
Some time in the next day or so I should be finished a set of foot-peg assemblies for it , I'll
post a few pics when done . Floor boards seem fine for the first couple of hours riding , but
it's hard to take the weight off my arse with the forward mount floor boards . YMMV :) . Peter

I would probably have kept my 05 1400 for many years if it would not have dropped two TPS sensors in 7k miles. After the second one in 2k mile I cried Uncle and let someone else have the problem. I’m not sure which year later model it was but the sensor under the tank was replaced with one on the throttle and as far as I’ve heard there have been no cases of faulty TPS so far.

She shakes at a standstill because she was purposely engineered to do just that! Her soul was specially added. (I recall reading from in the initial reviews.)
Nice report.
