I’m seeing a distinct increase in the quality of bikes for sale...you can find any and all models used, that are not beat to a pulp. At the same time, Dealerships are having a hard time keeping the floors stocked so used prices seem to be holding steady. If you’re in the market there is a fantastic selection of great used bikes out there...this is a quick sweep of Conneckticut possibles...great bikes, every one of them. Some may not be to your taste, but any kind/price you want is out there right now
Look at that, even a Guzzi!
What’s happening in your area?

Bike market is hot prices are up and I think a lot of folks are capitalizing on it. I know I have. On 2/26/21 I sold 3 bikes in one day for full asking prices plus sold an additional $750 in accessories to one of the buyers.
In 2020 I sold 4 other bikes for full asking price and some of those buyers bought additional accessories over and above the bike.
Six of them were in the 5 to 7K range one was in the 3.5K range

That photo of a RE Bullet 500. That is MY old bike. I sold it to a guy in MD in the Fall. Now its being flipped in CT?
This not my photo. But I put the chrome crash bar and seat and Indian flag decal on the battery cover and windshield on it. Hope it finds a good home. Super cute and delightful bike on a winding mountain road! Just don't exceed 50 mph or the vibes go WAY up!

My buddy has a pre UCE Enfield and said the same thing, great a 45/50 but then it'd buzz the nuts off of you. When I got my 2012 C5 Bullet he could not believe how smooth it was any any and all speeds. It would chuff along at 70 indicated very nicely.
-
Yeah. Mine was a pre UCE. 4 speed reverse shifting gearbox on the wrong side and last bike ever to have points ignition! It was a 2002 model. When I got it, the tail lamp vibrated so bad it tore a rip in the license plate!

Here in Spartanburg/Greenville area (between Charlotte and Atlanta) there are definite patterns. Lots of later bikes available with a sharp drop-off around the 25 yr old mark for many makes & models. Less common Marques and classics show up occasionally, usually at a cheap sell quick price or overpriced to the point that they stay listed for a long time.
Prices may be strong for some models, but there seems to be an abundance of the typical "worth so much" perception bike ads that linger for a long time. I think that has more to do with cash purchase value being consistently less than finance value, but many people don't think that way after they got soaked by a note.
As I mentioned before, the real cheap good bikes (and equipment) often disappear within hours if not minutes of being listed. Many of those ads are offline within 24 hrs, like the $300 Handy lift that was on local c/l Sun and pulled mon and an even better wood lathe deal late last week. I was caller #2 on both ads. If you're not checking things like c/l and fb mp regularly all day long, you'll never see them at all.

I make it a habit of almond daily looking through the local Craig’s List, Facebook market place and other add just browsing at different bikes and what they are selling for. It becomes obvious that unless someone is looking to buy a particular brand like HD, that there are some great low mileage bikes of all types out there for ridiculously low and affordable prices. Some of these like big mile eating cruiser type dressers like Honda Yamaha and Suzuki can be had for 3k of less and done with very low mileage.
Point being, if one wants to get into riding a motorcycle don’t get hung up on any one particular brand.....like I do:)

There are a surprising number of great condition ‘70s and ‘80s bikes appearing in garages here on the Cape. I think it is generally retirees that brought them here that finally realize that they are not going to ride them. Usually a tank and carb sort, new tires and battery and they are good riders.

I listed my Norge for sale here and on MGNOC and haven't had any calls. Probably because of the 72,000 miles. Great bike but it has become too heavy for me now at 68 yrs old. Haven't used Craig's List or Cycle Trader because they charge to advertise now.

a lot of people just use CL motorcycle "parts" section instead of the motorcycle sec and then it costs nothing. I'll bet most browsers look in both categories I know I do.

Here in CA it seems the asking prices have gone crazy! A basic bike that would have been $1500 pre-- is now listed for $2500-$3000 !! Seems like that price range has the crazy % increase. Kind of like everyone with a GS500 in the garage decided to sell them or something ... and they figure someone will come along with $2500.
KTM dirt bikes seem to have taken a big jump. Been thinking about selling my 2011 as they are listed for $1000-$1500 more than I think they are worth.
But as usual, when I try to sell something it is over priced (and the buyer wants me to knock off $1500) and when I go to buy something it is crazy high and the seller is firm on the price. Ahhh!
It seems the days of a great used bike at a great price are gone here.

I have the best luck selling on Craigslist. They charge $5 for motor vehicles, but it all works out.

Good looking bikes...priced well!

I am in the central part of southern Ohio with a lot of rural area and the off road market is what keeps the dealerships doors open around here. Used street bikes sell well and for a high price, especially Harleys. New street bikes, even Harleys, aren't exactly flying out the doors. It is rare to see a new large touring bike on the road around here, but the Spyder population has grown considerably. Used trikes both HD and Honda are selling well.

I overpaid for my bike last may prolly by 500 bucks but it’s cool. I got the bike I wanted and lots more money has gone into it. This is probably the first bike that “throwing the wallet at it” hasn’t hurt my feelings lol

Might I ask...what did you pay?

In San Francisco, a used "modern" Vespa that's clean not rashed under 10k miles sells in minutes. A 5-year-old GTS300 will fetch upward of 5k. I have a 2006 250 I bought some ten years ago I could easily sell it for more than I paid for it. One of the few used "bikes" if in clean shape appreciates in value.
