Just put Pirelli Route 66 tires on the Convert, and did a quick 50 miles. Very nice. SMOOTH, great grip and very stable. I decided on the HD tubes as well. Man they are thick. Cleaned up the rims as much as my patience would allow. Not perfect but they look much better.
Also swapped out the scintered front pads for organic, I didn't realize they would eat the front rotors up
.
Amazed again how dead simple and common sense working on these bikes are.

I didn't 'do' them, had my local shop do it, but they let me observe in the shop and help. Not really more difficult, just impressively thick. I had just had done the Stornello tires a couple weeks ago with standard duty IRC tubes, and process seemed about the same.

just my opinion , i had a hd tube in my rear cal sport it seems that tire tire got quite a bit warmer in summer time at hiway speeds only got about 4000 miles and center of tire worn flat same tire before got about 6000 miles (pirelli sport demon)

I have used the pirelli MT route tires in the past, but can no longer find them in the correct size. 110/90-18 for front and rear of a convert or the 100/90-18 for the front of a T3.

Good looking Convert!
Finding the older I get, I have more time on my hands but less patience. So, what advice could you offer that would simplify bringing my alloy rims on the R100GS to look half as nice as those on the Convert?

Hey Bob!
Yes she is, I am getting it ready for my Summer tour, and am finally taking care of the wonky oil pressure switch. I am 99% convinced it is a loos connector. Will pull the tank this week to get at it. I also am adding a Knight Design toe peg. Seems that after the knee replacement I can't pivot my toe in to catch the brake lever. I'm also putting the tank cover and bagster back on. I had sent the seat out to be built up, but somehow UPS goofed up, and I found the box back on my front porch last week. Oh well, next year. Do you still have the Corbin?
As for the rims, don't look too close...... I started with some of that gooey wheel cleaner that dissolves brake dust. Sprayed it on and used a scrub brush to get the garbage out of the inner part of the rim, then sprayed it off. Then I used brake cleaner and the same, washed it off with soap and water, and then the never dull wadding with some chrome polish. Brought them in the house, and laid towels on the counter, took the afternoon while watching Motor Trend TV and ignoring the looks from you know who.
I did 90% of the cleanup before taking the rims over for new tires. When I got them back I sprayed with a light speed wax (dustless type) as a final clean up and buff.

The oil pressure switch could drive one crazy. I'd ordered one years ago, but don't think it came with the proper connector, so it never got installed. Did I pass it along to you? I do still have the Corbin, as well as a HB rear rack, which is easy on and off.
I think when I next get tires I'll spend some time on the rims.
I imagine you were getting some hard looks! At least the rims wouldn't fit in the dishwasher!

That works
