I've done a lot of reading online and more confused than ever.
I've got a 2014 V7 i (North American spec).
I've got 2 keys (one black plastic head, one black plastic head with a silver round metal center piece) and a small black tag with a number on it.
Some websites suggest both keys have a transponder in them, and the black tag with the number on it is a code for future keys. The AF1 website has the set for sale but indicates only one of them has a transponder in it.
Finally, I've also read that the V7 i that I have doesn't use any transponders at all which then begs the question, if the keys have no transponders, why did they come with a black plastic tag with a number on it?
Thanks
James

I have a lot of sets of keys with a metal number tag. I was told that they can make a key just from that tag so keep it in a safe place. This was long before transponders in keys.
