Title: What hath I bought?
Post by: pat80flh on May 13, 2021, 08:44:23 AM
I bought a pile of parts from facebook, from the neighbor of a deceased gentleman, who is helping the family. Looks like he was amassing parts for a disc brake Eldo?  The good news, nice freshly powdercoated frame. Bad news, no badge.  Bare engine cases, most of engine in boxes, excluding crankshaft and flywheel. Shot chrome cylinders. Nice box of powdercoated parts, swing arm, rear shocks, triple trees, air cleaner, tool boxes.  A front and rear wheel and brake assemblies with good splines, rear drive with good splines. A box of Tokico and Summitomo calipers, a master, and some levers.   Original gauges, speedo disassembled.   Engine case vin VP58337.

There is a long list of parts needed to return this to a road going bike.  I paid $900.

Seems like a fair price to me.  I might have paid it if the same opportunity knocked.  I think Harpers has blank VIN plates that you can stamp yourself.  They sold me one for an 850-T with no questions asked.  The powder coater destroyed mine.  I bet yours was removed for powder coat and only the deceased knows where it is.  Maybe you'll get lucky and find it in the boxes of parts.

Not from the photos, from the engine number you gave. Frame number would be the same. "jumpmaster" here (John Cannon) has '73 Eldorado 058331. https://www.thisoldtractor.com/moto_guzzi_loopframe_loop_list.php

Transmission is a 5 spd. and rear drive is the deep sump with correctly placed level hole - both Eldo.
