Title: V7 Mistral rattle
Post by: Cal3 on May 26, 2021, 02:51:42 PM
Hi Gang.....I recently bought a 2015 V7 Special with only 2k miles on it. It has the long stainless Mistral twin conical mufflers. It sounds pretty nice with or without the db killers. But it seems to be making a tinking sound at idle that sounds like the muffler is rattling internally. It does it a little with the db in, more so with the DB out. anybody else experiencing this/know a fix?? Thanx for any responses.

Did you check the connection to the main pipes? If it does it without the baffles in it could be there or a mount?

Thanx.....I will double check those...but it sure sounds like its vibrating/tinking internal muffler noises. I thought maybe this was some common issue that might come up often....maybe not.

Could be. Not familiar with the internal construction. I had the Mistral shorties on my V7iii and they seem pretty straightforward. I could see the mounts or the connection clamps coming loose. I check mine periodically.

Hope you get it sorted out.

Remove and shake, should be pretty conclusive.

That's too obvious!
