Looks like a 1949 Indian Arrow 149.

My first reaction was a post WWII BSA single, but I believe Antietam Classic Cycle nailed it! :thumb:
Look at the cylinder head!

Wow. I was expecting something British or Eastern Europe.
Thanks

The postwar British singles had the timing case on the right hand ("offside") side of the engine. The bike in the photo appears to have the drive side on the right side. As Charlie says, likely an Indian "Arrow" 250 single. In 1960, on Okinawa Island with the Marines, I had Japanese "Hosk" 250 which was a dead ringer for the Indian 250. This could be one of those too.

Indian all the way. The bike blamed for taking the company down. Though there where many other reasons. I have a couple of them in the barn. That ones missing a few parts.

pushrod tunnel for the exhaust is in a "different" position. Never seen a motor like that before. I mus say, I have never seen an Indian Arrow either.
