Great news today. Got on the bike and took it for a spin. I'm 10 weeks out from that total right knee replacement. No issues at all this week! "landing gear" pop up and down off the pegs easily. Last week it was a bit too stiff to use well that way. Rode long enough to fully warm her up and recharge the battery. Bike ran like a top even after 10 weeks storage. Note that I did run it every 2 weeks and checked everything to keep it up while I was recovering. Looking forwards to another joy ride this week! Man I was tickled by this! Now I need a longer ride out to Suffolk to see if the knee gets stiff as I sit still for a while. That was an issue with the old worn out knee. It would get so stiff after 20 minutes I could barely get that foot back off the peg!
Then I took a couple mile bicycle ride around my neighborhood for PT and then walked my dog to cool down!
Feeling pretty stoked. Hope I can sleep tonight!

Very cool- hope things feel good in the morning. Great to hear the post surgery is going well.

That is great news! I'm sure you won't have a stiff knee out to Suffolk- unless you forget to oil it. :thumb:

Making me hopeful that my knees might one day be free of pain.

That is great news, congratulations Rich. And glad to hear the bike is working out as well as the knee.

6 1/2 weeks out for me. Just starting to bet back on for about an hour or so. healing weel.

I found that the first 6 weeks were the toughest. The PT was most painful then although I could get around well enough to take care of myself and do light chores around the house and walk the dog. After that the leg started to get much more comfortable. It could rest much better at night and wasn't using pain pills anymore. Although I do still munch Tylenol like candy every 4 hours! The past few weeks I tried getting on the bike. On the RE you sit like you would on a Lemans. Had it been a Cali with floorboards, I could have ridden it. But I had to be able to tuck my heels up under me on the pegs and sit like a jockey on a horse. And I had to be able to pop the feet up and down as needed quickly to start and stop the bike. So I didn't ride until yesterday when It was finally fully comfortable doing that job.
I'm taking the bicycle out twice a day now to really work out the new knee. No pain today, so I know I didn't over do anything!
I'll take a longer local ride this weekend to see if it gets stiff as I sit on the bike for a while. That was a bad issue with the old worn out knee and it would get so bad after 30 minutes that I had trouble getting that foot back off the peg. Since March I only chose routes for joy rides that involved occasional stop signs and traffic lights to make I could stop and stretch that leg once in a while! Longer rides were out of the question til the knee got replaced. Now I'm almost there again!

I just realized, I think I have one of your seats on my V11, if so, I thank you Sir for taking pride in putting out such a quality piece of kit for my bike :thumb:
Glad to hear that your healing and riding are going so well.
Take care and stay safe

:thumb: Cngrats! Self-massage your knee after a work out to help the circulation of oxygenated blood through the knee area.
