Thanks for that, best thing I’ve read in a while. I had the chance to ride a T that was tuned by Reno Leoni that was owned by Ed Thompson of Denham Springs Moto Guzzi in Louisiana in the early ’80s. It had 40mm Molassi carbs with open stacks and slightly muffled exhaust. Ed said it was an honest 150 mph bike. To my regret I chickened out. It had that sound like it was quite angry when woken up. Ed and I contemplated taking it apart to learn some of Reno’s secrets but we didn’t. I chased him around with my hot rod Cal2.

I agree, great story. The phrase winds up like a two stroke hit home. Thats what my 850 does now after Manfred’s head work and the close ratio gearbox. I would be curious what set of gears would get you to 150. With the close ratio gearbox (lower 5th) and reving to 8K (it will pull higher even in 5th) that only gets me to around 130.

Miles was a 2 stroke guy if I remember, formula 2…or maybe a tz750?
Thanks Steve!
