Title: California 1100 to Calvin Computer Flywheel differences
Post by: guzzista on August 12, 2021, 04:50:08 PM
Anyone familiar with California1100 flywheels  (dual disc  clutch if that applies) with the timing Sensor notches up and including the Calvin / Black Eagle. Any differences or interchange issues? Thanks in advance

Probably both have the same flywheel but the Calvin doesn't care about the triggers since it has no crank sensor.

I was trying to post a pic from a PDF, didn't work but there's no tabs on the late flywheels.

As Steve said, only the bikes with the P8 computer had the tabs on the flywheel.
And since it is not clear what you are doing, the Vintage is dual plugged, so the spark timing will be different than the P8 or even the early 15M.

Looks like the OP has a 1100 94 model, if FI that makes the ECU a P7 or P8. He might need some tabs welded on.

Thanks everyone for your help.  I am trying to find a spare flywheel  for (a long term) machining/ lightening  without disabling my bike in the mean time.  I was not clear as to whether Guzzi had left the tabs for the  crank timing Sensor or removed them when  such sensor was deleted.
In typical Guzzi fashion I wanted to see first  as what would interchange so a used flywheel could be purchased
Thanks again

-just to pick up on rodekyll's point...

I totally agree, I've run various maps (15RC and 15M) designed for single plugged engines in my dual plugged CalVin and not had pinging issues.. (on the good maps that is!)
