On a really hot muggy day, a good rain on the ride feels *good.* Shortly the sun comes out and dries you off. With any luck at all, you'll pass into the cold front and stay cool. No need for rain gear in that situation..

Sometimes it can be too much of a good thing. We were in the middle of Nevada on the loneliest highway, temps in the high ‘90s when we hit a big storm. We had warning but thought it would be a good way to cool off. Cool off we did and were soaked when the temps dropped to the ‘60s. It was over an hour to the next town, Ely, and my wife became hypothermic. Fortunately got the last room in the motel and she was able to get in a hot shower.
