Hmmm, I am not a vegetarian ..Not a big time meat eater either..... My personal cook and number one buddy ,my wife, will make some... Sounds good with tomato, green leaves, sweet pepper slices and Miracle Whip....

nice. I've tried quite a few meat substitute products. "Beyond" brand has some of the better tasting products. I like their burgers, but don't like belching and tasting beets afterwards.

Calling this "Bacon" is like Kraft calling Velveeta "cheese."

or a Goldwing automatic a motorcycle.

Can one of the moderators please NUKE this thread? Isn’t politics, religion and FAKE BACON against the rules??
Is there nothing sacred?

For the record.....I love bacon. Ever try popcorn made with bacon grease? :food: :food: :food:

Ok, the fake bacon report....Remember in the US nearly all bacon is belly meat...Salted fat...
My wife was a greasy spoon local joint cook for many years...She preferred to cook bacon in the deep fryer....She also cooked hot dogs in the hot grease..A Ripper...
In fake bacon in one word, NOT.....the fake bacon tasted not so much like bacon but like fine ground potato pancakes with a maple syrup and smoke taste..So it was ok as a side dish..We do eat bacon occasionally....We prefer onion fritters as a not meat because they are quick and simple...
-
I get all of that but did she use the mushroom powder? Seems that would be the missing link. Just curious.
-
No mushroom powder....It was the bad texture not so much the taste, don't know if mushroom powder would change that...?
In my opinion, too many so called vegetable meat substitutes try to taste like meat when they should just taste like what they are..
About 4 days a week we have non greasy fried onions, potatoes and peppers for breakfast, no meat and it's a great taste..

For those of you disheartened by these reports of FAKE bacon..a side dish to renew the faith..

We used to cook everything with bacon grease. Mom had a pot with a strainer to save and store the grease.
I think that's the best way to cook popcorn. Especially if you use a popper that goes on the stove burner with a little winder on the top.

I'd like to hear more about onion fritters, and fried onions, potatoes, and peppers please. Next time I go back home to Hilton NY, I might stop in for breakfast.
Deep frying bacon and hot dogs sounds brilliant. You married well!

For onion fritters and similar go to Hillbilly Kitchen on U Tube....Fried onions, peppers and potatoes is easy, just dice up the raw veggies and fry them in coconut or vegetable oil.Toss in fresh garlic at the end... Sausage, bacon or beef can be added...
A hamburg joint named Rutts Hut in Clifton NJ deep fries hot dogs, that's where I got the idea. You can also do hamburgers or just about anything... Hey, stop in anytime,we are in Marion NY...

You likewise are welcome any time here in Forest, VA. Just 15 miles or so from the Blue Ridge Parkway. I still remember Zweigle's White hot dogs from my youth!
