I had a 73 Eldo, which was my very first Guzzi. I bought it at an estate auction, for about $450. Mine had a leading shoe front brake, and Amal carbs. Loved that machine, and wish I’d never sold it.

NO RESERVE....ends in 6 days....$3,000 now.....the days of getting a nice Eldo for $450 are long over...  :clock:  :boozing: :thumb:

I'm sure it's just a typo, but in the description they list the carbs as VHB 36's; I'd never heard of those before so I went through the photos, they're actually VHB 29's, which iirc would be stock and correct, idk?
I saw from the comments, that this bike even pulled Greg Bender out of the shadows, will definitely be an interesting auction to follow.
I'll be rooting for you sdcr, good luck with it.
Tks very much JJ for keeping some of these fine BAT bikes on our radar  :thumb:

Nice bike! It is about 700 newer than mine by engine SN. Disc Eldos are super nice. It should be added to the Loop List!

He should of washed it with a Brillo pad before the taking the pix. 🤔

The purchase price is unknown, but let's say it was 4K for grins. Add the $7377 cost of refurbishment. The seller will need about 12K to break even.
-
Looks like it would make a good daily driver - although $4K is pushing the limit for suchlike - at least for me.

I could be wrong, but even with NO RESERVE, I doubt this one will reach $12K....(just sayin')   Of course, with BaT...one never knows....

I wonder if the rebuild included Giladoni cylinders?

The receipts don't mention Gilardoni specifically, but they do state "install new cylinders/pistons/rings with new gaskets"
-
I doubt new chrome cylinders.

Ya never know. I’ve seen loops advertised for sale stating “New NOS cylinders”.

Its a mashup of civilian and police bits... For some reason everyone is obsessed with them being real cop bikes to snag top dollar???? the disc brake will help, but it's not a show queen.. I think it's gonna go for $8-9k on BAT
-
It’s been sitting at $4000. For the past few days, and that is just the third bid. Only has about 21 comments, which seems to be a fair barometer of interest. But, the last 2 minutes usually brings out the $.

The only ones that seem to fetch super high prices are super shiny restorations with disc front ends. You can see from the pics, this one has plenty of patina.
-
I’m guessing 7500. They really are pretty bikes. I’m so glad to see Guzzis on BaT. Maybe airheads have run their course for a bit.
-
The $4K price has not moved in 2-3 days...
So... with NO RESERVE, will it come close to $7500, as Scout63 predicted...or will it just flounder around $4K-$5K....Time will tell...and we'll be watching! :thumb:

I’ve noticed on several, BaT auctions, the number of comments, as well as bids, appear to influence the final number. The Eldo has had just 21 comments, although it has attracted Greg Benders interest.
Also, just three actual bids so far. I have a feeling that, unless there is more activity, it may not move much higher. I guess we’ll find out for certain, Monday afternoon.

The number of pix is good but it does show the true state. Needs some work if you want show room quality.
-
I feel a little empathy for that old Loop, it says major work in the last 5 years but the close up's show a very neglected bike from then on.
It reminds me a little of my own mission which was sad looking like that bike when I got it, lets hope the next keeper does the right thing by it.

Y'ep.

Still floundering at $4,200...(NO RESERVE!!)....with less than 8 hours to GO!!
-
JJ,
My unqualified guesstimate is $5463.29 for the final bid!

sdcr - Believe me, you are as qualified as the rest of us!
It just went up another $100...you never know until the end! :thumb:

seems to me it should go for a hair over $5k... but with the 'neverending auction' situation on BAT where they add 2min every time there is a bid, 2 guys might sit there at the end thinking "I sure would hate to lose this over $100!" and thats when the price could creep up

You may be right Mayor_of_BBQ...
I guess in the end if someone gets it at $5K (+5% Buyers Premium)...that would not be too painful....if they sort it out and just RIDE it...as it is intended.... :thumb:  :boozing:
-
It may be leaving the country, as there is an Aussie interested.
-
A Herculean bid at the last minute brought the final bid to $5800.

+ 5% Buyers Premium of $290...so the Grand Total was $6090....

Wonder what the shipping cost to Oz is???

Wonder what the shipping cost to Oz is???
I bought five bikes out of the US.
1957 Triumph TR6A.
1971 Norton Commando 750 Fastback.
1973 Moto Guzzi Eldorado.
1974 Triumph TR5T Trophy Trail.
1974 Norton Commando mk2a Roadster.
Shipping was $900 out of San Diego to Sydney.
That BAT bike would be around AU$11000 landed here based off the sale price, then you get to fix it hoping for no unpleasent surprises.
Of course with the new genius rules it might need the the brake shoes/pads removed, maybe the clutch plates (possible asbestos) before shipping.
-
I don’t believe that the high bidder, was the Aussie that was bidding and commenting earlier.

Shipping to Hilo, Hawaii from San Diego. $600. Cost more than Oz. :embarrassed: Wanna bet it cost more from Hawaii to Oz...... :boozing:
