This one is pretty much as laid back as you get with none of the above.  About the only thing organized will be a Saturday ride through beautiful North Georgia that generally includes a local lunch stop .  Two Wheels of Suches has a kitchen so you don't have to go far for your other meals and the facilities are very nice.

So just show up and have a great time riding in a beautiful part of this world.

You get a doorprize of staying alive if you don't crash. My escape weekend w/o the dogs, they go to the hound hotel most likely. I'll be up there earlier in the week for some work.
Got to get there early enough to get some honey wine from the brewery at Riders Hill, pretty good stuff.

Weather forecast not looking so good for this weekend.  I did a 200 mile ride on the V7 this weekend so theoretically I could make it the 225 miles.  I did check on cabins a while ago and none available, and highly doubtful I could carry what I need to sleep comfortably on my bike.

Hope the weather improves for you all that are going.

Should I save you a tent spot Bob?

You live close enough that you could ride over Saturday.   :bike-037:

I might be coming Friday for the weekend.  I will know for sure tomorrow....nope, I have to do chores/projects at my cabin so I probably can’t make it to Suches.  Hope you all enjoy the weekend.

Looks like rain all weekend. Not continuous, but enough to be wetter than I want to be.

Any thoughts about the weather from those more familiar with the area and local weather? I really want to go.

It'll be OK as long as the creek don't rise. Keep a drink in your hand till it makes no difference. Plenty of porch sitting.

A 40% chance of rain in the N GA mountains means there is a 40% chance it will rain somewhere, not that there's a 40% chance it will rain on you, and not that it will rain 40% of the time.

I know that you are correct as such is undoubtedly so ... well, at least in academic meteorological theory.

That said, I have long viewed meteorology as the modern equivalent of astrology and alchemy.

Thus it has been my damp experience -- especially in the SE USA -- that 40% means 100% that it will rain on me.

Unless, of course, we need rain for our plants, in which case, 40% means 0%.

Yes, I am teasing.  But it does sometime seem that way.

Best wishes to all at Suches.  Was near there last weekend, and heading out to Kentucky for mutton, bourbon, beer, and camaraderie in a few days,  so no time for Georgia this year.  I look forward to the pix.

Bill

Had a blast. Didn't get wet riding(some did) or fall down(some did) lots of wet grass. Party's on the porch till weee hrs. I had some Mead from the brewery that's were Riders Hill was located. There were some old time dignitaries there, guys that been in the Club or Rallies for a very long time. Woke up this AM to breakfast w/Wavedog and GP Racing. Guys from IL came down and rode a lot, hadn't seen them for 8yrs. Just a nice relaxing weekend. Hats off to Wayne, Mike, Paul that set it all up. Seemed like everyone liked the just show up, everythings there kind of rally.

I had a good time as well, met a bunch of new interesting people.  It rained for about 10 minutes on Friday and didn't rain Saturday until 7PM. Coming home on Sunday was a different story.  It started raining when I got to Chattanooga and didn't stop for the next 2.5 hours home.  I gave up on rain gear years ago, so I weighed around 40lbs heavier with the wet riding gear when I got home.

On Friday a Norge got frisky and pinned its owner to the ground.  A couple guys nearby picked it up.  The rider thought he had a bad sprain, however the next day he took a ride with the local EMTs to get a cast.  Apparently he broke his leg the day before.

It's all fun and games until the EMTs show up.

Bummer on the broken bone.

I didn't see you in Tazio's ride photos so was wondering if you made it.  Setting up the tent in the garage to air out?

I wear Gore-Tex rain gear, Gore-Tex gloves, Gore-Tex boots, and a neck gaiter when riding in the rain.  As long as I can get wind on my visor I am comfortable.

I had gone out riding and forgot about lunch, so I didn't attend.

Gotta say, Wayne's 100 mile Saturday ride was one of his best.  If only I could remember some of those roads!

Loaded up on the plane back to Austin, but I can't wait for my next Smokey Mountain adventure.
