2007 Breva 1100 2 valve, 40k miles. She has become hard to start. Always been a one button push to run bike, now she runs through the sequence and stops turning over, I cycle the key to run the fuel pump again and hit the start button again, the third go around and she starts and runs just fine. I checked the valve settings no adjustment needed, replaced the outboard spark plugs but still the same. Any thoughts on this would be awesome. Thanks.

Is there a fuel filter on that thing? Are not those the ones who had the swelling plastic half of the filter, or was it the swelling of the non submersible hose that was submerged in fuel the tank.

I was thinking about a fuel leak too
Injectors or fuel line to the injectors?

If it is an electrical issue(starter stops or doesn't work) you may need to clean pin connectors on relays or switches & ECU plugs. If it cranks but no start and never been serviced, time to have it done. All the filters & clean TBs.

fuel filter was replaced with all metal one. There is no external fuel leak that I'm aware of. Once the bike starts it will start right up the rest of the day the the next morning it gets all picky again. Seems to be cranking just fine but I'm gonna load test the battery today.

My 1200 Sport was sensitive to battery condition and connections. Make sure the battery is good and the connections are tight.

The Brevas were prone to Startus interrupts failure (too much Voltage drop in the feed to start relay) but it seems as though yours is cranking ok, have you added an MPH kit?

Measure the battery Voltage while the bike is cranking over, should be over 9 Volts otherwise it may be too low for the ECU and Ignition/Injection
Do you have one of those battery testers that allows you to select the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA)
The standard setting for a car battery is 400 CCA, that's too high for a motorcycle battery, should be 200 CCA.
I'm just pointing out that if you test it on the 400 Amps range it will show as weak

Ok, volts DC while cranking 9.6 battery tester reads weak on the low side next to poor. I guess it must be battery time. I can't remember how old this battery is so might as well bite the bullet. Thanks guys.

The default setting for many battery testers is 400 CCA (as for a car battery) that is too much for a motorcycle battery and it will show weak.
For m/c battery you need to set the tester on 200 CCA, mine always defaults back to 400.
9.6 Volts seems pretty good, it would be a good data point if you could do the same test with your new battery after its had a charge.

I put the Breva on a battery charger and the bike fired up like it should. I'm calling the battery done. Thanks for the help guys.
