We need to create a printable, digital ride map that includes multiple stops for our club's upcoming mural ride. Our wish list is simple; the digital version won't change the route once set, can be adapted for print onto standard 8.5 by 11 paper, and is free.
What programs do you use?
Do you have tips and tricks?
Am I asking too much?
If I am, what do you suggest?
Thank you for helping.

Here are just a few of the murals we'll be visiting.

Not sure it does exactly what you want but I use “ mytracks “ for an Art car parade route and here’s my 40 mile plow route.

Is "Mytracks a 'you ride it and it maps it" thing?
I'm trying to create a handout for everyone on our ride with the route in case they get separated, show up late, or wander off.

Oh yeah, that's what it does, when I led the parade I rode the route in advance and then had copies and a web link to the ride route.

That might work. Thanks!

Sounds like you want to create a route. I use an iPad and OsmAnd app. I think there’s a PC version. You can print stuff but not its strong point I don’t think. There’s more of a learning curve than most of the other apps, but its worth it.
Maybe I didn’t get your meaning straight about what you’re doing.

Not to get too obtuse, but couldn't you create such a route in Google Maps using multiple stops? That way, you can distribute both a URL link to the online version and have a printable version (use print to PDF from your browser) where you can send the file to participants.

I'm trying to create a map for both the smartphone user and print maps for the analog folk to use if they get separated from the group ride. They don't have to be the same program, but I would prefer not to create the map twice.

Google maps will reroute you at random. Sometimes it throws in loops and other oddities to frustrate the heck out of you.

With OsmAnd, if I want to print, I get a screen capture and clip, then share the photo to iOS Books, and print. This may be good enough but better would be a PC generated version to print with more resolution.
My method falls far short of professional results. I suspect you’re going to have to dabble with mobile device or PC apps to get a feel for producing the results you want.

Maybe this app

I've used Harley Ride Planner and think it is quite good.

I'll look into it. Thanks!

Here's an example: https://maps.harley-davidson.com/share/rides/lBKnwdoFW
Takes a while to figure out how to use it, and some things are clunky, but it works reasonably well.

I like the fact that HD doesn't nickel and dime you to use it. Thanks!
