I can’t figure out the differences between the V7 and the V9. The MG web site is full of pretty pictures that make me want want want, but digging through it’s confusing UI has left me more co fused than when I started. I haven’t found a good reference on the web that explains the differences either. Special vs Stone is pretty clear, but 7 vs 9 is cloudy.
Can anyone fill me in?

The brand new ones (E5 850CC), or the previous models (V7 III and V9)?

Sorry, I meant to add 2022 MY to the topic. Which raises another puzzle - are the 2022s v7III or not? I’m so confused!

It's just stylistic. The 2021s are all 850cc, but the v7 is considered a Standard. Standards look like what most people think of when they think of a M/C
V9s are a bit more Cruiser looking. Different gas tank, slightly more raked out forks, and big fat front tire. They are mechanically the same, it just comes down to what floats your boat.

I don't believe there are any MY22 out yet, just 21. The v7III, is a MY 20 and earlier, it has a somewhat smaller 750cc motor.

The brand new V7 is not the V7III--that was the previous model variant, and the last of the 750cc V7s.
In addition to Bad Chad's trigger-finger response (beat me to it with these notes!), the new V7 and V9 also have slight frame differences (rear frame rail on the V9 sticks back horizontally, whereas the V7's rear frame rail angles up a bit). I imagine the motors may be tuned differently, too.

The V7III and V9 had some engine differences in power and feel.
I can't say about the NEW EU V ones. I sorta expect the motors will be more similar now. Especially since they differ a bit from the old V7 at least with the oil pump setup which I assume they both now share with the V85. At least that's one of the first mechanical differences I've noted about the new V7 850.
I have no idea what other components in the V7 or V9 motors have changed.

Yeah, you're not wrong there. You'd think they'd hire fluent-English-speaking web-builders to supplement the primary. Or if they are, then they might want to upgrade, ha.

Chad might disagree, but the V9 is more of a standard compared to an American cruiser with regards to the seated position and controls, so I'd make sure to sit on both when you go for a test ride :)

I think the term "standard" might be misplaced here if it's a point of differentiation between the two.
The ergos of both are pretty much the same.
There are small bar and seat differences, but the frame/controls etc are pretty much identical*
*Since the first year only V9 in North America.

I agree with you Dirk. The v9 looks kinda cruiser like, but it's really sits and feels like a standard when on it.
Redblur do this if you haven't. Google v7 850cc and then click on Images, you will get hundreds upon hundreds of pics, many of which will be very helpful. Then do the same for Moto Guzzi V9
Note, you can only get the v9 Bobber here in the US as a current model. The v9 Roamer available else where only came to the US as a 16/17, which is to bad, as I think its the better looking of the two.
