So sad since we lost Wes (and now Paul Smart).

Wow, I remember when these could be found for $4000-4500.

Probably one of the few classic big bore UJMs that I think have real value. Also the first Eddie Lawson replica bikes. I remember seeing a GS1000S in the bike parking lot in college in the early 80’s and wanting one so badly.

The Suzuki above...the classic 900 Kawasaki Z1...the first year Eddie Lawson replica Kawasaki's...
...all around $20K+ these days, (*SIGH*)

Its about time more than Old HD's sold for more $$. Wonder if my "Discontinued" Victory will someday be that way?
-
I wonder what my RG500 Gamma would sell for today? Cripes that bike was fun; in it's own domineering way? She, 'Walter' - alternately ms piggy, was the only bike I ever named. I learned my mind/eyes were too slow @ ~ 140m/h. R3~
-
As someone who was 3 years old when this bike came out, what's the big deal? Anyone care to fill me in on why this UJM is worth $20k?

Had a 550E when I was a kid in high school. Previous owner added the Shoei quarter fairing and rattle canned it in this color scheme. Looked decent after it was buffed out. Bigger cams, bigger carbs and a Kerker header. Mid 70s to early 80s was an exiting time in the Japanese motorcycle industry.

Stock cafe racer when it wasn't common.

people paying big bucks to relive their glory days. nothing new with that .

Shipmate of mine back in the day had a regular 1000 GS and put a Rabid Transit fairing on it and soft panniers. Later, after performance work, he put a Hannigan ST fairing on it. I lusted after that bike when he parked it on the pier. I had a 83 Yamaha Vision 550 back then. Nice bike, but not in that league.
