Title: 1100 Sport Fork Dampeners
Post by: GeorgeG on November 02, 2021, 02:55:42 PM

Hello All,

I'm new to the forum, although I own several MG, so they are not completely new to me.

I have a 1996 1100 Sport that is in need of the fork being rebuilt. According to my mechanic I need new dampeners, but I'm having a heck of time finding any. I just bought a set of used fork legs on eBay that were supposed to be excellent....that was not the case as they are worse than the ones I trying to get fixed.

Any ideas as to where to buy new dampeners, or substitutes?

I appreciate any input.

Best,

George

This should really be in General Discussion, you'll get more responses there.

Stein-Dinse has the right-side damper assembly:

Teo Lamers has the both:

if you have access to a lathe , buy a set of showa forks and transplant the cartridges.
buying a set of old honda forks should be cheap on ebay.
the last time i used some honda VFR ( RC36) forks.
