Title: V85 fuel pressure
Post by: rudyr on November 09, 2021, 05:31:37 PM
Talked to Don at dealer said they were putting a new fuel pump in today, but didn’t know if that will be a fix yet.  Will call me if that’s it for my Traveler.Rudy

Can they confirm an all metal filter?  I’ve only seen a hazy boroscope photo that shows it is.

I’ve had the mechanism out of mine to fix the ridiculous calibration on the fuel gauge readout.
This is what it all looks like.

I was trying to figure out what your problem is so I looked back at your earlier posts
Quote from your earlier post
The problem with 2021 V85TT was not value adjustment, CO2 monitor how about low fuel pressure.  Pressure should be 40 psi as per technician but my was low 20’s.  Now we or wanting on parts.  Had to leave the V85 in OK. City.  Down to riding sportster or speedmaster for now.  My Jackal needs a Battery, the SE with sidecar my be ridden.  But Just see how long the V85 is in the shop.Rudy
End of quote.
20 psi is way too low for a FI system, pressure is normally in the 40 - 45 range in the choked flow range (flow is very stable) at 20 the flow will only be a fraction of what's required and very unstable
I used to specify control valves and I find the fluid flow characteristics really interesting, its this condition that makes it possible for the ECU to calculate fuel economy from injector open time.

I haven’t seen the old fuel/pressure reg. They said That the fuel pumps housing was broken, probably because of the fuel reg. went out.  The mech.said new one is made different, look good. And they have a problem with pump/ reg. this year.Rudy

Going to get my traveler tomorrow, it’s fixed and has extended give hand guard’s installed( get to pay labor cost).  No one had said anything about heated seat on my post a few weeks ago so come on Amazon with motorcycle heated seat pad. Got the relay today to control it when the key is turned of.  I’m read for cold weather camping, after deer season. I will care my shock wave for bear, cats or other two leg trouble.  I solo in dark and quite places.Rudy

Congratulations on your good news Rudy.
It’s always good to have a definitive issue as a diagnosis. It would be good if there was a recall on the topic, given that you suggest the problem is not an isolated one..... :thumb:

Well the Traveler is home I think it’s fixed no I know it’s fixed. The computer has got some relearning to do.  And my Givi hand guards add about 3”” taller.  should stop the rain off the top of my gloves better than before.  I would like to take a ride in the mt. tomorrow and see how the Traveler runes, but it’s the first day of gun deer season, a lot of crazies out their.Rudy
