It’s a pretty bike but I think it would look better if given that same care and kept as a floorboard T.
-
Poor mans 1000s.

If you’re gonna fake a Sport, at least add a second disc up front.
-
+1 for a second disc. While you are at it, hop up the motor with a cam and bigger carbs.
-
Can't tell if it's filter block T or not. Anybody know based on the SN?
Good news is it still has all the T parts so it could be put back to stock.
-
Why would you put it back to stock? Lose the cuush drive & disc rear wheel and take off the lovely tank and swan-neck bars?
I think this thing rocks. And I'd take a single disc over the 'correct' dual drum brake any day...
-
PersonallyI prefer creativity like this to the stock bikes .When I was A kid I was always fascinated by hot rods,it seems like today the mentality is for collectors to park their excess capital in stuff that they sort of like and ride a couple hundred miles a year for fear of decreasing the collectors value as opposed to buying something like this and riding the hell out of it.My wife says the day I get a bike is the best it will ever look and I agree.I have a friend who has a rare Ducati in his living room that never leaves. To each his own.

Sarcasm. Back to stock would mean back to its original configuration as an 850T.
It's pretty nice but does not have a filter.

My 850T (93098) is a nonfilter motor and had a 13 amp alternator instead of a 20 amp, both changes were made by the time the factory got around to Jim B's 850T (97454).
The 850t had a cush drive, which I am told is sought after by Eldo owners in the know. Or perhaps I should have said that a cush drive could be installed in this wheel and would be useful for Eldo owners.

Thanks John! Was confused because the BAT bike says it's a '75 but the ID# seems too low.
-
Mine was built in Sept 1974 model year 1975 per the VIN plate on the headstock. (93098)
Jim's was built in Dec 1974 model year 1975 for comparison. (97454)

That's good, I just hope it got a better price than that T-5!?!?!?!?!
-
The red T-5 auction is a little odd. Just two bids, with the last, an over the top $6500. Very few comments, and commenters as well.
With 4 days left, I can’t imagine the bidding going much beyond the current high bid, but anything’s possible, as it’s a Bat Crazy auction.

I dont think some bidders realize BAT doesnt 'auto bid' for you like ebay. On ebay, you can enter your max bid, and they will automatically bid you up everytime there is a bit til it hits your max.
On BAT, if the current bid is $1,000 and you enter $10,000... It just jacks the current bid up to 10K!
I think someone thought '$6500 is the max I'm willing to pay' and put in that bid, thinking it would auto bid it up for them.
-
Or something more sinister... if I wanted a T5 I’d look around, and certainly wouldn’t throw a bid like that at that bike. Maybe 1500.00?
