They may not save lives, but my Mistral short mufflers save weight and sound awesome!
The old school life jackets might actually prevent a neck injury while riding and support the weight of the helmet. And being orange will get you noticed. You might want to give that a try wavedog.

I have a 17' fishing boat on a chain of lakes in upstate NY. There were two drownings last year...a 62 yr old and a 16 yr old. After that, my wife Barb said that I should wear a PFD when I go out on the lakes. I bought a super light, auto-inflatable vest. It's convenient, comfy, has pockets and doesn't look like a straight jacket. Barb is happy, Doug is happy and I can still putter out at any time of day or night and terrorize the local fish population! :cool:

Wow Mayor...that's a first for me. I once rode in an Amphicar, a little clumsy, but it worked. But an amphibike? I'd like to see that in action. :grin:
