Title: Tonti swing arm pivot insert sleeve
Post by: Klinkhammer on December 11, 2021, 10:02:38 AM
As I removed the left side pivot bearing race from the swing on my 1976 Convert an insert sleeve came out of the swing arm with the race still in it. Haven't seen this before (haven't removed so many pivot bearing races thou...) The insert sleeve can not be seen on any partslist etc.
Will press it back and put a little tack to hold it.
Any thoughts?

It happens to me on occasion, no big deal. I don't tack it or anything else - just remove the bearing, put the "insert" back into the swingarm and then install the bearing. It's not going anywhere.

I haven't seen one of these inserts come out, either.

Does it have a step for the tapered bearing race to seat on?

Yes, there's a flange on the outside to stop it from going into the swingarm too deep and another flange on the inside to stop the outer race of the tapered roller bearing.
