Title: V7 III, Scraped Kickstand

Leaned it over a bit and dragged the kickstand today. Other bikes I've owned all hit the bar, peg or maybe pipe first. Is this normal? Don't want to break the stand, that would be awkward.

Make sure the sidestand switch works OK if that's what you dragged. Centerstand no worries, grind away or remove, then it'll be pipes. Don't crash.

Where did this occur? 

I ask because if you were turning left across a cambered road it would be pretty easy to drag some parts. 

I would make sure the side stand is properly stowed and maybe work on your technique so the bike doesn't have to lean over so far to navigate a turn. 

Also, have you checked your static sag?  You might need some more preload in the rear shock.

I am too much of a scardey cat to drag anything on the MGs or my new Triumph. Now my former Harley, that is a different story. I drug floorboards quite often but I had to lean off a bit.

I've dragged the kickstand on my V7III.  It was annoying but didn't alter the function.  As recommended,  I should probably increase preload, but I think I've dragged it twice in about 22,000 miles, so it's not a big concern.

I also frequently dragged the side stand on my '21 V7. Now I basically do what TWA suggests, added some preload on rear spring and change the technique (hang a little more on turns  :wink: ). Once in a while it still drags...... :bike-037:

It was on a flat stretch, I did an abrupt lane change just for fun. Did have my daughter on the back so that was an extra 120#, so preload was probably the issue. Don't normally lean it over much or leave the neighborhood with the kid.

Didn't think of that cuz I ride with my wife a lot... while she's heavier than my daughter I do up the preload for her.

Interesting. My Milano drags the footpeg, not the kickstand.

I've ground the foot off the sidestand on a couple stelvios.  It's about as far over as I'd want to go.

I'm running the stock coil-overs, geometry and handling seems fine with just me on the bike (nothing crazy with wife on the back anyway). I'm 210#.

What are you guys running?
