I'm thinking of upgrading my HB 30 bags on the 1200 Sport to Journey 42's with white flash. The 30's are fine for plinking around and general utility, but stink for pacing for serious trips. The White flash will be accented with a red pinstripe to match what I put on the fairing and seat cowl, and I will paint the recessed sections on my HB Junior Top Case.
Anyone running these?

Sorry have not run those larger bags. With anything larger than you already have, be careful in gas stations and everywhere else, you bike's rear will be quite a bit wider than it is now. I once bounced a KLR with big bags off of some big steel tubular gas pump protectors, that almost dumped me. Be careful, this could be you:

Thanks for the heads up. Bob (Ohio Rider) went from the 40's to 30's for that reason, but I'm finding the 30's are too small for long trips/camping, or when Mrs Bulldog comes along.
Journey: 42 Liter – 11.4" height x 19.7" width x 11.8" depth
Junior: 20 Liter – 11.4" height x 19.3" width x 8.7" depth
Looks like 3" wider for each bag. Hopefully not too bad.

Back in the day, the HB Journey bags were the stock luggage offered for the Buell Ulysses. I've never had any trouble with mine, but on Buell forums, many complain of fragile latch mechanisms. The latch is a rather thin piece of plastic, so I'm careful with mine and have never had one break (knock on wood) in the 21 years I've owned the bike. They are nice large bags with plenty of capacity in a usable shape. I'd give them a try if I were you.
