My last year of high school. Was thinking of trading my CB450 for a new wing-then I got totaled by a left turn driver and that was that.

Very nice example. I rode one when they were new and thought it felt like a truck compared to my Norton. Wheelbase to the next block. I am sure it would feel like a scooter today compared to my 1800 tank.

I had ridden my Eldorado down to bike week in Daytona from D.C that year. The new first year Goldwings were not yet available but there was one on display on a revolving pedestal at the show. My Guzzi had already shed chrome and was self destructing on the next couple weeks to Key west and back to D.C and as soon as I got back I put myself on the waiting list for a new Goldwing. I wanted the red, of course but what came in was a funny blue. Traded in the Eldorado on the blue GL and was completely in love with the Honda. It got stolen within the first year,...bummer, but I replaced it with a Red one and kept on loving them for many years afterward. A marvelous bike in its day.

One more thing, I paid $3100 for the first Gl and my sister the same year paid $2900 for a new Honda Civic . The Gl seems SOOOO expensive. After a few months and more GLs came on the market the price dropped. I paid only? $2800 for the second. new 1975 red one.

There are some influences that one Never forges about... The first edition GL 1000 is one of them for me. Many years ago an older gentleman in the area had one, same color as this one listed and I just never forgot about that Wing.
I found this '78 GL 1000 a few weeks ago...
