I just drug the MZ out of hibernation after 2 years (!!) of sitting in SoCal. Amazingly enough to me, the lead acid battery that was on a battery tender is still up. :shocked:
Here's the question. It uses the same turnsignals as the guzzi spine frames, and 3 of them are hanging by the wiring. Naturlly, I'd like to repair them (moreGuzzi content) and am wondering what kind of adhesive would be most likely to do the job.

When I shortened my KLR signals, after cutting down the hard rubber they're made from I drilled some 1/16" diameter holes 1/8" deep on both flat areas in a star pattern and JB Welded them back together. I wrapped tape around the seam for strength and let them cure for 24 hours. Been fine for 12 years. My $.02

I went through this with all four signals on my 02 Stone.
Once the rubber has deteriorated to the point they brake off just by hitting bumps, for the most part they are finished and the rubber part will need replacing. I found they can be matched and mismatched with other models of MG bikes. New ones can also be found.
I found glueing to only be a temporary fix.

I've had some luck with my EV signals using epoxy and heavy rubber bands for clamps. Not sure from description whether it's plastic/rubber on metal or plastic on plastic. That might give a hint for the type of adhesive. I think whether JB or generic it's all epoxy but matched different materials. In my case I needed the rubber/plastic epoxy. Careful to rough up the surface for the resin to nest.
Regarding the rubber band, I hooked it over the light and the flange, keeping the rubber band parallel to the stalk. Let it set overnight.

I suspect they are similar to the signals on my Triumph Sprint. My local Triumph dealer had just the stalks in stock for $5 each. Easy fix. I think AF1 Racing used to stock them as well. My dealer is Motorcycle Enthusiasts in Spring Hill FL.

I don't know much about MZ's, but my impression was, it's not that simple with that brand, fwiw idk.
Re the glue, if they're rubber, possibly auto weatherstripping adhesive,,, if they're plastic, I've used Fletchtite (archery supply store) similar to old fashioned model airplane glue.
For turn signal stalks bouncing around with the vibration, is it something that you could mcgyver a big piece of heat shrink tubing with adhesive onto it to help support the repair?

3M makes thick walled heat shrink with heat activated glue on the inside that may be perfect.

That's very kind of you, Charlie. I'll keep that in mind. "Assuming" I get the MZ going, I'll hang out at Mark's and maybe buy some. I'm doing some orthdontia and glue on these 3 as we speak. Sitting 2 blocks from the ocean for 2 years is not a nice thing to do to a motorcycle, btw.. :smiley: One of the instrument cluster shock mounts has gone to rubber heaven, too.
