It's going to be difficult when the day comes that the old GS takes off with a new owner. March of 2021 was the 30th year I'd owned this old gal. However, since heart surgery followed by sepsis in May of 2016. the old body isn't quite as agile, and I have to think through nearly every stop I make. (I'm good on lower bikes ...... lighter and lower is even better!) I never considered my GS a bike to run through the muck and mire. Instead, it simply served as one of my all-time best road bikes.
A 30 year run ...... 164,000 miles ...... I think I got my money's worth, even considering that she got a bit extravagant in her needs after 120,000 miles.
Here's a couple of pix of this faithful ride taken on a solo ride to Northern Utah via Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, N Dakota, and Montana in 2009.

I understand.
Have had my '72 Eldorado since 1987!

Completely understandable, I've had my Velocette since 1972. Just can't get my head around letting it go. Hasn't moved to the living room yet................ ...

Bought a 1980 Harley XLS Roadster in 1980.
Not a single stock part left. Truet and Osborne, Andrews, trans and cams, multiple carb. makes, the list goes on and on.
Like an old friend, never want to say good bye

Godspeed to your health. :thumb:
I'd think the adage, "they don't make 'em like the used to" would apply. :bike-037:

Now that I live 2000 miles closer, perhaps this summer I'll make it over to Ohio!

Where'd you move?
This part of Ohio has a lot of good riding very close. Be great to meet up.

I can’t get enough of that GS. That’s how they should be owned and ridden.

I moved to Indianapolis about a month and a half ago. The weather is the least of the challenging changes right now.
