It has been announced in the past 24 hours by most all of the news outlets, that our nation is in a serious blood shortage.
I am personally looking for the nearest location for me to go give, today!
Remember, if you would take blood to save your life, then give blood to save someone else’s.
Thanks for reading.

Good point Dan.
Will look for a donation site in our area.
Gave often in California. Time to give often in our new home of Colorado!

In previous years I gave gallons. Alas, now on a variety of age-related meds I am prohibited. I did my job when I could. Now you healthy young bucks need to line up!

Thanks for the reminder, Dan. I'm O-, so I know those blood vultures love me. Everytime I try to do a walk-in at local pop-up clinics, I'm told they're booked, and then I forget to follow up and make an appointment.

Yea, I’m on some Meds also so I figured I’d better check with my DR first.
He said “go for it”!
Now if I could just get someone to pick up the phone!👍

Good post Dan, I'll go see the vampires too. It's been a while! :thumb:

Also very important, JMO, become an organ donor on your driver's license.
You can save the life of a mother, father, or even a child.

From the end of my tour in Vietnam until I was informed I had prostate cancer @ 10 years ago I gave almost religiously. Was told having cancer made me no longer eligible so I would ask all you young healthy bucks and bucketts to give. :thumb:

Great way to start the new year thanks for the reminder. Just stocked up the sperm bank , off to the blood bank ASAP.

Wonder if they actually paid Doners people would show up. After all these hospitals overcharge us all

Over the years I was able to donate 1 Gal.
But heath issues prevent me from donating any additional Blood.
Medications and current health prevail.
But I'm sure that my donations helped someone in need, So if you can donate and donate often.

just out of curiosity, do you sell or donate blood in the US? Here in Australia we donate it.

Whole Blood is mostly donation at Hospitals, or Red Cross. There are facilities you can sell Plasma. Very popular for college students.
I miss donating blood. Haven't been able to donate in several years due to deployment nonsense.

I think it can be sold but I think most folks do it for a donation.

I can't give anymore either which is a crying shame as I am O-, universal donor. When I was in the Army I worked in an Army hospital. The blood bank would call me as soon as I was eligible to give again. I think they paid $20 per donation but I refused to take it. How could I when my fellow soldiers were being wounded and worse in Nam.

A very worthy cause :thumb: :thumb:
I hit 50 donations in a couple of months, all factors permitting
We don't get paid here, but the blood wagon and team arrive in the town every few months so easy to do.

I have a date set. :thumb:

Very annoying and disappointing situation in my home town, Winston Salem NC.
I have tried for two days to figure out where and the procedure to give blood.
Thus far, at the location listed on line, I have not been able to speak to anyone as to the procedure or appointment process, no one will answer the phone.😡
I’m not going to give up and I’ll drive to the next town if necessary!

I'm sure that - stuff is to blame. You need verification that you are fully vaccinated.
Stay strong and healthy, all we can do.

I woke up at 2AM this morning and saw this thread - I made an appointment online and just returned from donating. I took the morning paper with me, and flipped it open to see an article about this very need.
Less than thirty minutes in and out, with the actual process taking about ten minutes.
I have an appointment in their system now every two months. And ideally, this will help with my cholesterol level, which my MD has gotten grumpy about.
Thank you Guzzi brethren and sistren. :thumb:

You’re the man Norm👍
I’m still trying to make contact with someone or somewhere to give. It really shouldn’t be this difficult with a Nationwide announcement going on now!

I donated a few days ago. I was reminded by the media bombardment about a shortage here in Atlanta GA too.
If you can please DO! I haven't been able to at times over the years after visiting regions with malaria and blood thinner after stents for examples. There are a lot of things (i.e. new tattoos) that I think greatly limit the eligible pool.
Thanks to all who do and thanks to Dan for the poke.

I can't donate anymore because I served in the US Army in 1991.
