Title: Bike Collection on CL
Post by: blackcat on January 22, 2022, 05:09:38 PM
I know there was a thread on these bikes awhile ago but I couldn’t find it.  I talked to Leafman today and he contacted the seller, the guy wants to sell all four bikes for $80K. And the seller is in Florida and the bikes are in North Carolina.

Wow!  That’s quite the collection of desirable Moto Guzzi’s, based upon the description the asking price of $80K for all four is not crazy, definitely in the top dollar category but all sorted and running, hard to ever find again.

80k?  That's top dollar for all of them isn't it? Nice bikes for sure, but are we at a point on values that these are running $20K each? And that's with a package deal!

1000s yes no question 850 lemans is marginal close the only one I'd question is the V7 sport, although a lot of these examples seem to be low mile examples so they would be certainly towards the upper end of the condition scale.

“listing them 4 at a time….”

So there is more to come after these 4?

That’s a museum not a collection

He is fine, but he is down to just one Guzzi and after all the problems he had with his Stelvio I doubt he will buy another Guzzi in the forceable future. You can find him occasionally on  Adventure Rider under the Old is Cool Falcone section.

That’s definitely a go see before you buy situation.  I have mixed feelings.  The seller has great taste and they are beautiful bikes, but dropping 80k on 4 marquis bikes feels a little like the credit card Harley situation. For me a great part of the package is having built the bike myself. I’d love to meet the seller and see his/her garage.

So he's advertising these bikes- one or all- over the course of 6 months and they still haven't sold.  Now we know he's advertising them coast to coast and they're still not flying off the shelf

Like I said last time these bikes were discussed, maybe he's more motivated to actually sell them this time.  Guess not yet..

Head scratcher, if he just sold them individually they would be sold by now.

If he puts them on BAT he would probably come close to the 80K.

I agree with Murray's valuation.   10 to 20 years back a V7 Sport was always worth more than  Lemans I, but the tables have switched.  Not sure why the V7 Sport has dropped off.  It is just as significant of a bike (or more so) than the Ducati 750SS, but the 750SS has went off the charts, while the V7 Sport is retreating in value.  I don't understand it but that's the reality.

Seems like they are still getting $15K for good examples, but maybe this is slice of the future for the other bikes? Then there is the fact that Ducati has muscled it's way into the future with fast bikes and name recognition that attracts deep pocket owners.

More like $65k for all 4... Whats the point of buying them in a bundle if you are paying top/over value for 3/4 of them?

dumb of the seller to not break them up...  If you are interested in a collection, why would you buy two identical bikes in identical condition?  Especially at top dollar.  Maybe if one was a green frame and the other an orange stripe?

I dont believe any orange 1000s is worth $20k..  the green frame adds like $3-5k instantly. Call it dumb but thats just the facts- they do have the big-valve engine going for them.
