Greetings all, after joining and checking in daily while doing my LMIV 1400 conversion last winter my "attendance" has fallen off dramatically which is how I roll on many things in my life.
Update on 1400 conversion is only to say it is probably fully sorted and I am very satisfied with it. My total 2021 mileage was 7,833 kms due to it being one of 5 bikes I have and the only downside is the drop in gas mileage. The LMIV was always in the low to mid 50s MPG US and the 1400 seems to get 40 MPG US no matter what but I can live with it and with the size of the tank the range is still more than acceptable.
Meanwhile the leftovers from this project kept catching my eye in the garage and made me think of creating some wall art. Mostly I wanted to do something with the set of 1400 headers I had bought hoping to adapt to the conversion. They couldn't be altered as expected due to the double wall design and by the time I gave up on them they were no good for anyone else. I did salvage the header flanges off them and used those with my altered Bub Hyper system.
Initially I thought I could mount them to a piece of plywood with a life size drawing of a Guzzi engine but knowing how crude that would be I knew I wouldn't get to it.
The other leftover I saw almost daily was my original LMIV engine looking so nice with the front cover off displaying the sweet aluminum timing gears. I looked into taking a picture of the engine and having it blown up to full size. I was going ahead with this and had the engine out if front of the garage cleaning it for a photo shoot and my neighbor asked what my new project was. I explained and thought nothing more of it. She has her own business doing custom picture framing and knows of things I didn't know were available. A couple of days later she showed me an example of a picture somehow applied to a piece of composite board and offered to have it done for me if I gave her the blown up picture.
After a few practice shots using different backgrounds and lighting I had a decent picture and Walmart made it poster size for me. I was pleased how clear it remained at that size with just my phone camera. I gave the poster to my neighbor and in a week or so she gave me the finished product. I have no idea what it cost her as it was a thank-you for all the grass cutting and snow shoveling I have done for her over the years. The engine is maybe an inch or so larger in all dimensions but that's not an issue. I welded some Harley intake flanges to the 1400 headers and cut the lower ends to sit flush on the board and tacked washers on to allow screws at the bottom. Also you don't think of it but the headers are not a total match due to the slight fore and aft stagger of the cyls. but no one would ever see that in the finished product.
The end result greatly exceed my original expectations and looks great on my garage wall. I haven't seem this concept used before most such wall art is done with cut down actual engines but it could be done with lots of different engines that look good in a frontal view.

really like that! would it be possible to put a front cover plate on to improve the depth perception?

In regards to foto prints of your favorite Guzzi…
I suggest FreePrints.com. 85 free, FREE! 4x6 prints each month. It is a seriously good service. Excellent print quality.
The hook on the end of the line? They know you’ll start ordering larger prints and products. Even so the prices service and quality is very good. As an ex-pro fotog for 35 years I highly recommend them.
Straight from my iPhone to their application, shipped back in the mail. Your first 85 prints, each month, free…each month. I can’t keep up
How Guzzi cheap is that?

What a great idea and very nicely executed. My wife would never let me hang it in the house though.

Ha! My wife won't even let me hang my 3x5' Guzi banner in the garage! She thinks if any delivery guys look in they will think we are Nazis........and I AM German......I am gonna put it up anyway of course. I do like the OP's wall art, especially the 3d pipes.

That is so weird you say that! my wife said the same thing when I got a black Moto Guzzi banner with the big eagle on it?!?!?!?

Yes that would be easy to do and add depth but for me I wouldn't hide those gears

Is it possible our wives are twins? Or more likely that they care more what other people think than we do?

BTW - likely I will be coming down the BRP and side roads, to see my mom in Asheville, probably first week in June. Maybe THIS time we can get together for a ride.

My wife keeps telling me I should bring my Corsa Record project bike up & put it in the living room so I can work on it instead of wasting time watching TV at night...

I was thinking the same thing, like maybe adding some single point perspective detail (diminishing detail to center behind it) to make it into even more of a tromp l'oeil.

About the coolest Guzzi wall art I have is a copy of a 16" front wheel print to compliment my '87 LMIVSE.

Not the best photo due to the glass and it being bright outside. From what I understand this was a two off photo set up by a couple of guys who owned these LeMans.

I'll try to remember to take another photo in the evening, removing the glass would be a pain in the a*s.

Yeah, cool looking pic!
