South Dakota should be CHISLIC it will taste different everywhere. Every place that sells it makes it their own way.

New Mexico: " In New Mexico, chili peppers are everywhere so why not add some to your cheeseburger? These aren’t jalapeños but Hatch chillies, which have enough spice to tickle the palette without forcing you to down a gallon of water after every bite."

Picture shows jalapeños!

Philly cheesesteaks are overrated. I would’ve suggested scrapple instead.

South Carolina shrimp and grits- if they're not made with Adulah grits then I question their authenticity.  Juniper in Ridge Spring is always a good bet.

Indiana watermelons and tomatoes. Southern Indiana wine is suppose to be the best in the World.  I would not know, not a wine expert. Bourbon County is an hour away.

Green chilies on the burger.  Cooked with it.  And yes I have had a green chili on a frozen custard.

I have had 25 of the dishes.  I would recommend others for some of the states because many on the list can be had elsewhere.

How many states serve Ruebens, or wings.  Alabama definitely is the white sauce on chicken.  Yum.

I would have thought the egg fu Yung sandwich would be for MO.

Is that restaurant over the water in Noank still in business? I can't remember the name of it. I lived just across the river on Masons Island.

Ford's Lobsters or Abbotts, I think. I went to grad school at UConn and worked at the Marine Research Lab in Noank.

There were several seafood restaurants in Mystic, too.

Lots of places have wings but the Anchor Bar in Buffalo is the standard to judge the others by. Most even in Buffalo no longer go there due to tourist prices unless they are taking visitors but its not unlike Texas chili being a standard or gumbo or Blackened Redfish in New Orleans. You might find it somewhere else but its not the same.

Abbotts, it's next to Ford's. They're both still there. Abbotts is lobsters in the rough, they opened a second place just down the street, called Costellos. Serve clams and other seafood. If I go to either, it's by sea...

I am usually incredulous of these on-line "must see, must watch, must eat... etc, etc" links that come up across the home page and often discount them as hyperbole or just plain nonsense. So I was ready to immediately jump all over and shred what ever dumb-ass thing or place they listed for Colorado and offer all of you my alternative substitute. But Colorado Lamb. Oh yes! Good selection indeed. Proudly offered at all of the finest restaurants throughout all of Colorado.  :thumb:

I tend to agree with you but I think it's more of destination type food.  Generally speaking the particular food item for that state would be "a reason" to try something in that state after getting there.

Lived in Okla 2/3 of my life.  Never tried calf/lamb fries.

I see the place that was mentioned was the Guzzi lunch ride a year and half ago in Vinita.  I'm going to have to ride there and try it..... I suppose..........

.......maybe they'll have an onion burger?

Abbotts, thats the one. I couldn't remember the name. I flunked out of UConn like a lot of others, some my fault some theirs. I then went to Mitchell Jr College and then transferred to Clark Univ in Worcester. I miss the fresh seafood and the great relaxed riding back there. Maybe not so good now to increased traffic like everywhere else. The grinders and pizza were the best back in New England to get back on track. Oh, and Rhode Island style clam chowder.

Yes, the clear chowda. There was a place in Watch Hill that had good chowder. I thought it was called Snuffy's, but it may have been the Olympia Tea Room. Also, a place in Jamestown. Miss that, the steamers w bellies, too.

At least they didn't try to push that Cincinnati "chili" dreck for Ohio.

Never bought a chicken wing. We would get a bag of raw wings for next to nothing and catch crabs with them. I also remember when wings were left on a chicken breast.

Sure. Haven't been to Pepe's in years. Heard that they have a second place nearby?

There are some items on that list I would love to try, but when I was at Jackson Hole years back I did pass on the Rocky Mountain Oysters.....
As far as lobster rolls go the one they showed is pretty lame. We go to Reds in Wiscasset each year for my birthday...we stay nearby so we can go a few times, and their roll blows the one pictured away.
