Here on the Cape, the birdsongs are changing, but Spring is a ways away. That real first week of glorious warmth doesn’t usually arrive until after a gray, windy March, April and most of May. I miss my college days in central Virginia where winter coats came off in early March and the Skylne Drive was still a ghost town. The real indicator of the start of good riding here is when the towns sweep up the road sand.

Well, this is the official party line on spring... :thumb:  :boozing:

However, here in northern AZ, we are seeing temperatures like this in mid-to-late February...

Yesterday here in Central Ct it was sunny and 57, a lovely day, this morning it's 28 and snowing.....
-
Saturday was Spring in the Bucks County area, hit about 60 degrees. This morning, not so much, with an inch of wet snow, and the temp at 33.
-
January is our coldest month. From now until the end of March it will depend on which way the wind is blowing.
This past Friday the high was 70, and Saturday the high was 40. Today woke up to 20. You have to be spontaneous and ride when the opportunity presents.
-
Since I retired uhh.. 30 years ago.. I've kept a journal on computer. I can find about anything that way with the search engine. One of my terms is "first nice day." It can be as early as March, and as late as May.. but I think "normal" weather patterns are off the table, now.
-
It was a high of 65°F here in South Jersey yesterday.
Nature says spring is coming as things are starting to sprout.
Probably just a week or two of cold temps left before we really start to feel it, but the sun and warmth yesterday was a clear sign it's coming.
-
"Nature is saying" spring is still a far cry away  .... here in Manitoba, today more Sow and by next Wed., _30 C again.
So still waiting game for :bike-037:

Last 2 days, in the great white northwest of NJ, were 55 and 50.....I got out for a short ride yesterday but the road gravel made it less than fun.....but this morning it was 28 and we have 5" of fresh snow.....But I think it is supposed to be near 60 later this week. Spring is SOON!!!

8 degrees F and snow yesterday morning at 8000’ here in the Rockies. We still have a long way to go. The bikes are going nowhere anytime soon.
But by my reckoning, the first day of summer is December 21 (winter solstice), because the days start getting longer after that. Once we arrive at June 21 (summer solstice), I consider that the first day of winter because the days start getting shorter after that.
It’s just my twisted way of thinking.
-
It was in the 50s yesterday here in coastal New Hampshire. This week is definitely a premature spring teaser, and Thursday is looking to hit 57.
The ONLY positive to all this is that I should hopefully have the Guzzi and sidecar back from the welder within the next day or two and won’t be doing my alignments in the cold. But after that’s done, I want winter back ASAP. I have more snowshoeing to do.

Beautiful day yesterday here in Georgia for a 200 mile ride with some friends.
One was on his used 2007 BMW r1200rt just bought as a retirement present to himself, first bike in 40 years!
My other pal on one of his 6 grey market 2 strokes..Met up with my son on his Duc at T.W.O motorcycle Campground in Suches . Of course, I was on the GRiSO.

Spring came here for a day yesterday. 55F and sunny. Took the Monster out for an hour blast. First time with the Corbin seat. Took a little getting used to the much different riding position but I am liking it. The boys aren't getting squished into the back of the tank any more so they're happier, too. Back to winter today with 4 inches of snow...

That pretty little Yamaha in the first photo. Probably not meeting EPA standards as a two stroke. Means a bike not approved for sale in the US but brought in and made legal. I’ll bet that bike danced around the Guzzi and Duc.

My wife was just down to our place on the Cape last weekend. Her and I are gutting, and redoing our kitchen, and we are trying to get our ducks in a row to to get the things we cant do ourselves done. I always thought it was strange that the Cape was about a month off from our place in upstate NY [a few min off of I90 near the NY/Mass border.] We start warming up in April but its hit and miss. We trade off in fall when you get a extra month of nice fall weather then us. Those first days in late march/early April are so nice!!

When does Spring come?

Imported from a foreign market. May not be DOT approved.

May not be national DOT, but every state has their own DOT. The Department of Motor Vehicles falls under the State DOT in many states. Department of Revenue in others, and a few outliers that don't fall under either. Several states around here let you register motocross bikes if you add minimal lighting. I've seen plated Side by Sides and ATVs in different states.
When I lived in New England vehicles couldn't even have body damage to remain on the road. When I lived in Florida, a car with no body at all was legal. I'm talking rolling chassis, engine, seat, steering wheel.

I lived in New Hampshire for awhile….
“Spring” was defined as the one and only day between mud season and summer!

I can vouch for the accuracy of that statement. Oh, those poor Class VI roads…
Meanwhile, Team Southern Hemisphere is too busy living it up.

It’s not only off from the mainland, but you can drive east to west from PTown to the bridge in the Spring and see the flowers further along as you go. The ocean does strange things to weather.

I once read an article that stated, from a meteorological perspective, Spring begins March 1st. YMMV.

Well, we have bouncing from close to freezing to high 70's last week, and my grass needs to be cut. So I am saying, the first day I cut my grass, spring has sprung for us here in the swamp.
haven't seen any mosquitos yet, but they can't be far behind. Only 2 days of frost this year, so pretty mild. Although, it has been colder for more days than usual as I remember, but WTH do I know, I am old and senile.
Fronts have passing through like low and high tide for the past 2 weeks, wind, rain, cooler weather, then sunshine. heater at night and AC during the day. So, yeah, spring is in the air.
Been riding during the day. this past week.
I will say this though. My neighbor got a new rooster, and I am gonna have rooster stew pretty soon if someone doesn't beat me to it.

That makes a lot more sense than the traditional way that is more commonly believed to be the way.

Today’s been a tease. It’s a sultry 65°F, so I took the opportunity to take the Guzzi rig on both its inaugural grocery AND freeway trip combined.
