Title: Guzzi v7 iii 850
Post by: chrisk on March 04, 2022, 06:27:03 AM
Hi all, wondering about a set of pipes for a v7 850 and wondering if I should get a set with or without Cats.

The general consensus is that pipes with Cats such as mistrals run okay as long as the db killer is in, and issues when out.

I’m wondering is the bike will run okay with a set that don’t have a Cat with the db killers in as well?

I’m assuming no Cat is the best option with a remap, and maybe blanking (with resistor)  off the lambda’s,  or not.

I can only speak for the Mistrals.  My bike fuels perfectly with the db killers in.  It runs so well in the stock fueling configuration I have no desire to do any re-mapping or adding any snake oil.  Although, when and if Beetle does develop a map for the V7-850 I will get it, just because.   I also think the Mistrals sound great.

It seems that the Agostonis with db killers left in do not present fueling problems either, but that opinion is only based on "internet" experience .   Some prefer the sound of the Agostoni over the Mistral, but it may be a long time before I am able to compare them side by side.  Perhaps the next National Rally!?

Although it doesn't amount to a hill of beans, I like the fact that my Mistrals maintain Euro 5 emissions compliance.

I'm guessing there are no emissions inspections or noise ordinances where you live.

I have Mistral short piples on my V7III with the dB killer installed and they are light and have a real nice sound.  This is the first bike I have ever owned that I replaced the mufflers, but I was going for look more than sound.

So, the guy at AF1 racing has said that the Ago’s do NOT have cats installed.
Anyone got a pic of the long ago’s, I can only find pics of the short ones online.

Mistral's. Lighter than stock, sound better than stock & look better than stock.

Love the Agostini pipes with the DB killer in, but have never heard the Mistral pipes.

fwiw, i removed the cat on my 850tt and it really stinks now at a standstill.  if you care about such things.  otoh, it made oil and tranny fluid changes 10x easier.

Cats are built into the exhausts on the oem and Mistral's so access to drains is unhindered.

The shocks are EMC (made in France). Has adjustable rebound damping.

The racks are Unit Garage (Italian)

Did a long day in the saddle, 502km, taking in 5 points of the Irish photo rally. No pain. This is one comfy bike that can hustle.

+1 for the Mistrals with the Db killers in (bike actually runs better with killers in).  See how it goes and you could always get an UpMap reflash later - looks like they are close to having maps for these bikes available.

I've not heard either on a v7 850, but my experience is that while both
Sound good, the Mistral's are a bit deeper and Mello where
Agostini pipes are sharper with more of a bark.

Fitted the Moto Guzzi screen.

It's good and it works.  Fittings are really nicely finished as well.

For completeness I added a gold Centenario tank eagle.

Could I ask a favour please? There are two mounts for that screen. One is for the LED light like yours and another for the standard headlight. There is a 2in difference in the width of headlight mounts.

Would it be possible to measure the distance between the headlight mounts and post it here please?

TIA 👍

Sye,

As best as I can measure it the headlight width at the shell mounting points is 170mm (convert to 6 11/16").

Thank you kind sir, you're a gentleman and a scholar. That's very helpful 👍

Cleaned and repolished the headers.  Just have to clean the rest of the bike now!

Title: Re: Guzzi v7 iii 850 TANK bag
Post by: chrisk on April 19, 2022, 06:02:00 AM
Hi, anyone know if the tank is the same
as the 750iii?
I looked on Bagsters website and they only list
them for an earlier models..?

http://www.bagsterworld.de/pi.php/en/Tank-covers/MOTO-GUZZI/v-7.html

Anyone know of a tank bag with harness that fits?

Don’t want just the bag as they always seem to scratch.

Thanks

Another two photo rally points this week on a lovely 320km afternoon.

Wexford point - Wreck of the Port Lairge at St Keiran's Quay, Wexford

Then onto Kilkenny/Carlow - Baracore Mill, north of Goresbridge

Rearsets really comfortable and as far back as they can go.
