Title: (Merged topic)Side cases for V7 ? Pics, please ~
Post by: kballowe on March 21, 2022, 08:33:06 AM
What does everyone have for side cases on their V7 ?

C-Bow ?
Hard mount ?
Quick detach?
Other ?

I'm getting ready to "accessorize" my new V7, and a few pictures of the others would help.

Opinions are solicited.     :boozing:

I am not at home right now but I can post pictures later. I have the Cbow mounts and Orbit side cases. They aren't particularly large but do look good on my V7lll Special.

C-Bow is the way to go.  You can buy the female brackets separately and mount them to whatever hard bags you want.  Turn of a key and they’re off.  Bike still looks good without them.

I chose the SW-MOTECH racks with their Legend Gear cases.  The racks are hardly noticeable when the bags are off.  The Legend Bags are canvas and have a retro vibe that matches the V7 Special.  I think they are 13L each and come with internal waterproof bags.  SW-MOTECH has several other bag styles and including a semi-hard case.

The C-Bow system is on my Griso, V7 II Stornello, and V7 III.

First used (on the Griso) an older set of soft luggage, which held more, but were otherwise a PITA.

I now use the Orbits, which have ample room for the credit cards you'll need to buy stuff you'll need while traveling.

Here are pix of those on (& off) the III:

I have Givi cases too.  I use the 21L for going to work and lane splitting, and the bigger ones for trips over 100 miles, although I've made the 21L cases work on 400 mile trips.

So I get the concept of using the C-bows if you are really concerned about how it looks when the bags are removed.

That said I really love the HB hard cases like the Juniors or the Orbitz and use them on all our bikes but the Duc.

Though I should say I only use the topcases on the V7III because Jenn DOES care how it looks when the bags are removed.

So I might add the C-bows to that someday, though we don't have a strong need for it.

When she comes along for a motorcycle vacation it is rarely more than 3-4 days (due to our kids and our schedules).

Besides she has proven over the years that she can travel that time/distance with nothing more than a tail bag on her Duc.

Should she take the V7III it just doubles her capacity with a topcase plus a tailbag.

Anyway - pics in various configurations:

FULLY loaded:

Both touring (see she didn't even use a tail bag that time):

My C-Bow mounts are a Homemade SS Bracket on the bike attachment part.. They tuck in way farther, and will handle weight much better then factory H&B setup.. Had them on my Aprilia and other Guzzi, so I know what you get from them. Also unloaded better looking in every way.The Extra female brackets open up huge options as far as changing out luggage from hard cases/soft cases, and gas racks etc..

Title: V7 luggage options
Post by: della moto on March 25, 2022, 06:55:28 AM
Hi All,

I have a V7iii Milano and and am considering getting some luggage. I was wondering what you guys like for luggage options for this bike. I really only know about the C-bow system and am not even all that familiar with the associated bags for it.

Thanks!

I'm a minority of one but I refuse to soil the wonderful looks of the V7 with side bags.  I use the modular Ventura rack system and am 100% satisfied.
In addition, the looks and line of the bike stay as delivered, which is of paramount importance to me.

https://ventura-bike.com/

As a bonus, the large bag makes a perfect backrest for long days on the highway, which are needed sometimes.

I hear you about not wanting to spoil the lines of the bike, KoF. That's an interesting system. Do you have any pics of your setup you can share?

My V9 came with these and concur that without the panniers fitted the racks are unobtrusive.
PLUS,  you can get hard cases that mount on the same racks that can be locked on. The soft panniers can't be locked if that's important to you

Did you have any issues with the bags flopping against the suspension and rear fender? The more I've looked into it the past couple of days, the more I'm thinking of going a soft luggage route consisting of something like a seat bag https://www.aerostich.com/medium-motofizz-camping-seat-bag.html and a tank bag. I think you could fit a tent and some basics in something like that. I'm also intrigued by those horseshoe seat bags that drape over the rear seat a bit like https://sw-motech.com/en/products/luggage/Legend+Gear/tail+bags/4052572034330.htm. 48L is nothing to sneeze at, and add a tank bag and it would be a nice compact and weight-centered setup.

Then, in the vein of what you've got going on, egschade, they have the toss-over saddlebag + tailbag systems like this https://www.amazon.com/Cortech-8230-0305-36-Black-Super-Saddlebag/dp/B008Q5J6UG?th=1 and https://www.amazon.com/Cortech-Super-24-Liter-Motorcycle-Tail/dp/B009RIG4UQ/ref=pd_lpo_1?pd_rd_i=B009RIG4UQ&psc=1, but I'm a bit wary of the bags flopping around on the dual rear shocks. That seems like more of a monoshock/sportbike solution. If anyone has thoughts and/or experience with stuff like this, please chime in.
